Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Not to get too meta physical but is the soul even in that husk or is the body taken over by the virus with the persons personality over written by the virus and hijacked so to speak with the soul in the passenger seat?
Or does the body actually die first and give up the ghost and the virus has the body on automatic with its ghastly new compulsions?

That would make a difference in how one would feel about blowing their heads off..... (a little)

Thats what fascinates me about Zombie stories.
I hope the series delves deeper into that stuff rather than just run and gun all the time.
What bugged me was the deputies lack of curiosity on what exactly what went down while he was out of it.

Its all probably answered in the comics, IDK, but I though about the same thing regarding the black guy's wife. Was she using some kind of habit/subconsious memory going back to her house or was she yearning for her family?

It doesn't look like they're going to make it available to view it online unless you buy it through iTunes or Amazon.

First of all, thank you Ween for responding to me...And yeah, it looks like your right...It just sucks that we are technically paying to see it on cable TV, why wouldn't they make it available to watch it for free on Hulu.com or another site? Just to get more money I guess...Oh well...I'll watch it again thru On Demand :D

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Wasnt he screwing around with his partners wife before the outbreak?
Thats the vibe I got.

If I remember the comic right, his partner was jealous. There may have been more history than that.

Zombie drama or cheating wife drama? I vote zombie drama. You can get your soap opera drama on CBS daytime. I just don't think the lead character needs a human foil when theres enough zombie killing to go around?

It's a human drama. What makes the zombie apocalypse device so profound is the way it allows the drama to encompass the whole human experience. It effects everything, so everything has the potential to augment the greater drama (the undead ruling the earth).

Are they setting up the series for the lead to get all battle hardened by killing 1000s of zombies so he's finally man enough to take on Ponch?

In the first place, this man needs no battle-hardening. In the second place, do you think the comic would have reached the height of acclaim that it's earned by being that shallow?

Refer to Something Sexy.

You guys really need to read the comics. :D

:exactly:

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I thought it was pretty damn good, especially the first hour. Good acting and a good score.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Agreed... But maybe it'll be a good thing that I'm watching this first season without the comics impacting my enjoyment (i.e. spoilers).

Agreed. I have a buddy who's pretty into them. Just watched the first episode. Pretty good so far.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Never read the comics but loved the show. The zombie effects are the best yet, and when he was walking down the street saying to his horse how they can outrun that bus zombie and running into the intersection I was like oh ____!

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Ok my thoughts on even if I was looking for my wife and son Atlanta looked like a ghost town. Trotting in to town seeing all the cars just stopped on the highway on the way out, I would turn back. Obviously something was in the city that people wanted to get away from, not get to.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Or you are spoiling yourself when you eventually read the comics. :D

Touche. :lol:lol

I'll enjoy the episodes for now... I'm definitely going to pick up the graphic novels for some "light" summer reading when my schedule calms down.

Personally, I would love it. The traffic here is the pits. :monkey1
