Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

28 days later was released in 2002 and Comic first came out in 2003 but who knows when Robert actually started working on it. Could have just been a coincidence.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I didn't mind the similarity to 28 Days Later with the sheriff too much. I actually wonder if The Walking Dead comic might have been around before 28 Days Later was made. Someone on here know which came first? The "problem" I had with the scene was how long was the sheriff in a coma for? Must have been pretty long judging by the state of the dried withered flowers by his bed and yet he still had enough fluid in his IV bag to keep him alive all that time? :rotfl

I believe it's around 1 month...long enough for the flowers to wither, but not long enough for his IV to run out or infection set in his wound.:lol

They did mention 1 month in there but yea it is funny about the IV. Although I guess we honestly don't know when in that month period the nurses and stuff left.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

You guys really need to read the comics. :D

:exactly:

If you are looking for run and gun zombie killing action then I suggest you turn somewhere else. This is more about survival and the human emotional element then it is about capping zombies

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

There is one thing I am curious about in regards to the zombies. Do the zombies have different levels of "intelligence"? Or are there going to be zombie leaders or something to that effect? I thought they might have been hinting at that in the ending scene with the zombie in the suit. He seemed to be staring real intent at the tank trying to figure out a way to get in.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Nope. No Land of the Dead foolishness here. They were probably just using him to illustrate the zomies' emotional range or something. For some reason, they seem to get very passionate and focused when it comes to food.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Wonderfully paced first episode (as if we should expect any less with Darabont); certainly necessary with the overall apocalyptic theme. :clap

Need to get the comics now. :yess:

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

They'll be about $30 a piece in a store. amazon is significantly cheaper. But I can see how owning today would be worth it.

I can't wait to vote. I'm always hoping to run into someone I'm not voting for...:devil

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I'm on the fence about getting the comics. I'm sure I will at some point, but right now I'm enjoying not knowing what's going to happen. Even with the show doing it's own thing - I am sure there will be many similarities with the comics - and I don't want any spoilers.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

the hardcovers are expensive as hell. I just bought the 1st compendium that has 1-48 for $33 shipped

How many hardcovers are there? :dunno

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Only issue with comic: no one can compare to Tony Moore.....six issues of bliss then the other guy took over; he is ok, but he is no tony moore

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I don't mind if it's equally as good. Frankly, some events in the comic I could do without (though they do lend weight and gravitas to the story).

One plot point I do hope they keep is Rick's HANDicap later on.

I have to agree with ya! :lecture

I am fine with them going off to their own canon as long as Rick does get his hand chopped off and they do the whole prison story line.

I'm fine with the
prison story line
but hope they lose the
chopped hand
part.

I'm not disagreeing, I loved his art, and the switch was jarring for a while, but when I go back and look at the first 6 issues now, it looks too cartoony.

I know Kirkman even mentioned that Moore's art was great, but it wasn't a good fit for the series.
