Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I remembered the one other thing I wanted to mention, concerning the ADD generation, with quick editing and jumping right into inane action with little to no plot or character development.

Last night, in the lunchroom at work, where they always have that godawful news channel on, the one with Nancy Grace. Oh boy! Anyway, last night I looked up and noticed her coverage of some missing teen was shot and edited like a damned MTV video. Is this what we have progressed to? It sickened me and reminded me why I don't spend my breaks in the lunchroom, although the food remains the the main reason.

Resume laughter. :rotfl

finally watching tonight.............:panic::panic::panic:

holy ____ing ____ this is awesome............:horror

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Yea i caught it earlier, finally. I didn't know if AMC would go all the way with this. It's zombies, there has to be a level of violence, and they certainly proved with the opening scene they were all in.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

As a testament to the awesomeness of the show, 10 minutes in I forgot I was watching it in crappy SD.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I would love to see a zombie movie with no zombies on screen. Just the threat of Zombies. Could be interesting.....:)

Indeed. You could tell they were trying to make a point with that first scene and they did. What I'm really curious to see is how they handle some of the character "exits" that fans of the comic already know of. There's some gut-wrenching panels in those books and I hope AMC does them justice.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Yeah, for whatever reason Direct doesnt have AMC in HD :dunno

I guess I'll GTFO now :(

Was thinking the same thing. Mainly for me Laurie and the baby. That is violent to the point I wonder if they will show the baby getting shot threw her. It could be handled without having to see it, like Rick seeing the after effects where you a see a split second frame of the baby's body. But i really want to see the actual panal of them getting shot brought to life. Sounds sick, but thats a powerful panal. And would be so painful to watch. Like it was seeing it in the book.

I've been thinking the same. Wonder if they'll actually do that, or if changing this scene will be one of the changes the are talking about making to the original story. Definitely some the most hard hitting scenes in comic history for me anyway.

The whole ending of the prison story was just so brutal on so many levels

You guys that are experiencing this story for the first time through this show are in for a real treat!

Im hoping they were referring to Shane. I think they are keeping him around longer. What happens with Laurie is gutwrenching and integral to who Rick (and Carl) become.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Yep -agreed.

Same with what they did to Tyreese. Watching that unfold was just as traumatizing IMO

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I think it would be fun to have Rick choose the other option, just the choice he didn't make in the comics. Kind of like a "Choose Your Own Adventure". Maybe get Kirkman's input and say "What one choice did Rick make that forever changed his path?" and have the show tell the story of what happens when Rick chose the other option.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I wanted to finish reading the whole thread before posting my comments but I'm running out of time before the next episode. SO here are my thoughts:

1) Best thing I've seen on TV in a long time.

2) Very pleased with the look of the zombies. Original and realistic.

3) The gore was fantastic!
I wanted guts and I got guts! 3 times!!! It wasn't living human guts (I don't think that will fly) but zombie/dead human guts and in the end horse guts. I love watching zombies pull out/eat guts. Even though it wasn't human guts at least I got to see that!
:yess:

4)
Yes I felt bad for the horse, but not more bad than I would feel for a good guy human.

5) As others have said, the intercut scenes of Morgan trying to get the will to make that shot, and Rick with the bicycle zombie was heartbreaking. Very well done.

6) The effects over all were fantastic. Movie quality. The only recognizable CGI was the blood when Rick shot the bicycle zombie. Speaking of her. She looked absolutely stunning. The face, the guts, the femur hanging on - brilliant!

Can't wait for tomorrows episode! :rock

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I thought all the headshots except the first little girl looked really CGIed but its not a big deal, I still got waay more violence then I ever expected given what they cut out of horror movies during Fear Fest.

You don't have to GTFO, but I will point and laugh at you.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I took the time to rift through some old storage boxes to dig out my Walking Dead compendiums. I hadn't read the early books since I first picked them up years ago. Read through the first few chapters in prep for today's upcoming new episode.

The first thing I thought: I did not miss the early artwork done by Tony Moore. I guess I just grew fond of Charlie Adlard's style (which became the dominant and current style) over time, because I remember being disappointed years back when the series switched artists. Looking back with hindsight...what was I thinking? Moore's art is too cartoony for this series.

As for the story, the only bad change that I think the first episode made was Shane's characterization. The show quickly makes him out to be kind of a ****** that the viewer could immediately predict could cause trouble for Rick. Shane's character isn't quite as douchey in the books.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Meh. I watched it on a 6" black and white radio/alarm clock/television. It was still the best tv show I've ever seen.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

The first episode was better than most full lenght zombie movies that I have seen. Cant wait for the next one tonight. I hope this series takes off and we get some more seasons. Great acting, gore, story, and zombie makeup and design.
