Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC ( Spoilers!!)

She's come off as a manipulative pseudo-villain for at least the entirety of season 2... Like you said Dave, she's not as poorly written as some have come to believe.

I never really saw her as a villain or intentionally manipulative, I just found her perplexing. I don't understand what her motivations where, and I still don't, I just know I don't like her now. I don't know if that comes down to a poor job on the part of the writers in defining the character's motivations, or if I've just been to slow to pick up on the subtleties of it.

I wouldn't say her actions are necessarily intentional as much as simply being the byproduct of her being emotionally torn.

The one thing I don't get with Michonne - yeah, the walkers don't have jaws or arms, but they should still have the urge to attack.

Does the comic actually explain why they're so placid?

It's hard to find Viagra now.

Let's try and keep any "signature group" crap out of this thread please. Start a new thread or a group or something.

And if you don't stop, Dave will kneecap you and leave you for zombie bait.

One of the producers tweeted about Lori - "it's difficult to develop a Lady Macbeth type character." That the creators actually see her as a villain comes as a surprise to me - perhaps she's not as poorly written as I'd believed - just that her motivations are completely opposite of what we might have thought.

Gonna have to blame your mod for the sig group fiasco. :nana:

I think the only one who hasn't seen her as a villain is the one who's sprung on her (we all know who that is). That said, the scenes regarding Lori's talk with Daryl before taking Maggie's car and her flipping it were poorly written. There was absolutely no cohesion between those scenes and that episode. It didn't even work as filler.

The devil made her do it. :monkey3

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC ( Spoilers!!)

Get the compendium. Worth it.

I want to get it too. I've been a BIG fan of the show since it started. But I haven't read any of the comics...yet. But I want to read them soon. So I think picking up that first compendium is a great idea for me too!

As far as Lori's character goes in my opinion...she's very selfish. She really "flip-flopped" so to speak between Rick and Shane this season. Manipulating both of them to hate each other for her own selfish benefit. Just my opinion. :wave

This is my favorite show on TV right now! I can't wait to see where it goes in season 3! I hope to get the compendium 1 book and have read it before season 3 starts.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC ( Spoilers!!)

How was it to her benefit that they hate each other?

Chick 101. She's a crazy _____ who wants to control everything. Having no distinct "leader" still allows her to pull all the strings by playing on their emotions. Thankfully, as of the finale, her wannabe queen bee game was put to a close by the Ricktatorship.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC ( Spoilers!!)

Anyone else think Danny Trejo would have made a good Governor?

When I first read the comics a couple of years ago, he was my suggestion. I was like, if they ever make a show about it or a movie, I think DT would be perfect as the governor.

I also thought Gina Torres would have made a fabulous Michonne and Josh Holloway would have been a good Rick.

Apparently, the show's casting director and I do not see eye to eye.

comic-related
I wouldn't have expected that, since I just wouldn't have thought walkers would ever stop, or have even the smallest inkling of "this isn't working, I give up". But hey, they wrote it.

On that same vein then they wouldn't have "learned" enough to pick up rocks to burst through the window or even Sophia when she walked out of the barn turned and looked at people she didn't just ran after the first thing she saw. It would be shortsighted to think they didn't have a bit of cognition still especially if you look to the comic books.

I am glad that Rick was cast as-is, but I agree that your choices are very good.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC ( Spoilers!!)

As to Michonne's pet zombies not continually attacking her - I think it also has to do with their 'winding down' as they don't feed. It makes some sense that if a zombie can't feed for longer and longer periods, they get slower, weaker, and less aggressive. This is assuming that their 'dead' bodies are processing the food in some way. Best you don't think about all that too much though - it all breaks down sense-wise pretty fast.
