Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I don't see how its not picking it up. seems to me they are flowing to the major plot points of the book, but the journey is different. After the last episode, i was actually really surprised and excited that i don't know whats going on. If it was shot for shot like the book, I'd have about 6 seasons to sit through of stuff i already knew if I stopped reading the book now. The way I see it, if you didn't read the book, its really entertaining. If you did read it, then its a great re-interpretation and you just get that much more material.

This is a pretty fair point - the CDC was a major surprise, but because of the way they're handling the script, things like Jim's death are so much less potent.

Walking Dead Writing Staff Let Go
Behind the scenes changes for Season 2.
November 30, 2010
by Eric Goldman

The Walking Dead has gotten terrific ratings for AMC and a quick renewal, as it heads into its season finale this weekend. But now comes word of a curious overhaul behind the scenes.

Deadline is reporting that executive producer Frank Darabont has let go of the show's entire writing staff, including his number 2, Charles H. Eglee (Dexter, The Shield). As Deadline notes, many shows have some writer changes in-between seasons, but it's unusual for such a major overhaul.

In addition, Deadline says they hear Darabont wants to go forward into Season 2 without a set writing staff, instead assigning all scripts he doesn't write himself to freelancers. Deadline points out that Darabont fully wrote two episodes of the first season (and co-wrote or re-wrote the others) and that two of the others were written by non-staff writers, including Walking Dead comic book creator Robert Kirkman. They also note that Darabont would be using the same model employed by Torchwood, which has several writers working on episodes for the upcoming re-launch on Starz (including Buffy's Jane Espenson), but no full time writing staff.

One hurdle for Darabont to do this however may come in the form of the Writer's Guild. Torchwood -- which just added another Buffy alum, Kelly Manners, as a producer -- is coproduced by the BBC, who got the okay from the Writer's Guild to continue with their UK template.

Hmm, interesting, but I am ok with it as long as Darabont stays.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

WOw, if that is actually true that is gonna be interesting but as long as Darabont stays and is writing I am cool.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Well, the more I read it. Only two of the 6 episodes were actually written by staff writers. Frank wrote 2, Kirkman wrote 1 and some other non staffer wrote the other. So only 2 were written by staffers and Frank also co-wrote/rewrote those. So really this isn't a big deal.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Interesting move. As long as it stays as awesome as its been I'm cool with it.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Just finished episode 5. Great series. Maybe this will revive some love back into Sideshows - The Dead 1/6 line. I also had a good laugh at seeing one of my friends play a Vato Cholo on episode 4. Every acting gig he gets they always cast him as a Latino gangbanger, thug or cholo. I don't think he can play anything else. Oh well at least he's working. :lol

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Oh I think it was perfect how it was handled. I think in a real world scenario it would be much harder to kill a loved one in the same situation then the false bravado posted on an internet forum.

I would shoot my mom in a heart beat if she was a zombie. Because I know the truth. :lol

She'll eat me. I dont want that. :monkey4

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

You could shoot your mother, even if she posed no immediate risk to you?

Father? Wife? Daughter? Son? I realize your still a child, but use your imagination. I know you have one of those.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Huh? She's a zombie....every single time in those movies everyone has those "heartfelt" moments, and then WHAM. They get eaten.

Use YOUR imagination. Your mother/father/sister/brother is bitten, and slowly becoming the undead. When they do "die"....you shoot them. You shoot them then. Obviously you dont shoot them while they're still "living".

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

personally i was pretty annoyed by the stupid blonde just waiting to get bitten by her zombified sister. look, i know full well they were going for pathos. but it was badly played. even if in this particular universe it takes a while for the zombies to come alive, the sister was still a serious threat once she was dead. but what did the blonde do? kept stroking her face and sitting 6 inches away from the most lethal part of a zombie---the mouth. c'mon. regardless of the "touching" moment they were going for, it displayed incredible stupidity on the part of the blonde (i don't even care enough about her to remember her name). this was the main sore point for me in the show. the rest of it was more or less fine.

i do agree with those of u who say the show's kinda dipping in quality. the last 2 episodes aren't as good as the first 3. hopefully the finale ups the quality again, pointing the way to a superior 2nd season...

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I think she was fully aware of what she was doing. The way she backed Rick off gave me that impression, atleast. She knew it was dangerous, but she didn't care about that as much as she cared about being able to communicate with her sister one last time. And given that she pulled the trigger in time without showing much effort, I think she was right to bet on her abilities.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Does anyone else think that
the scientist guy has been infected? Or should be infected? The microscope picture I think illustrates that the zombie virus is not killed by the acid and afterward it is clearly shown that his inner glove is melted when he wipes the acid clean...

Also a minor inconsistency:
when he puts the zombie brain slice in the tube, one drop of acid falls on his glove, yet it does not corrode it.

You might be on to something there!
Something is definately going on at the CDC either with Jenner or something else that we haven't seen yet. Why is he the only one left? The building seems like a stronghold to hold up in so why is everyone else gone? You would think that there would be other scientists with their families possibly since the building is a secure building.

I thought this too. I guess we'll have to find out this Sunday.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

The best episodes were written by Darabont himself and Robert Kirkman anyway. Frankly, I don't think the dialogue in this show is anything to write home about, so I'm glad the current writing staff has been canned (well, I'm not glad people are losing their jobs of course).

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I was hoping the sister would've gotten eaten for being so stupid. The scene was good, but Zombie rule number 1 is....IF YER INFECTED, SHOOT THAT MOFO IN THE HEAD. DOESNT MATTER IF IT'S YOUR WIFE, MOTHER, SISTER, BROTHER...THEY DIE NOW!

Oh I think it was perfect how it was handled. I think in a real world scenario it would be much harder to kill a loved one in the same situation then the false bravado posted on an internet forum.

Don't tell me when to shoot my mother.

"You twat."

:lol

This is a stupid argument spearheaded by the usual suspect. You're such a ____ disturber. lol

You are entertaining though. Don't ever stop being you! :nana:

I could understand someone being hesitant to kill a loved one (or even a stranger tbh) that had turned into a zombie if they were completely clueless to the situation. A good example is in the remake of Dawn of the Dead. When the chick's husband gets bitten and turns.. the wife doesn't try to kill him. She simply tries to escape. Because she's confused, scared, etc. To me that's realistic: you would simply try to get away and not harm them. Even with all the movies we've seen your first reaction would not be "ZOMBIE!!! Kill EM'!!!!". :lol

But with that said, the situation in last week's Walking Dead episode was entirely different. Those people KNOW what's going on. Those people KNOW what happens after someone gets bitten. They've been through it.. they've seen it firsthand. They know.

So in that scenario, while the scene was probably heartfelt for some it just came off as really stupid to me. Why would you want to see your loved one like that? That could've been avoided by simply saying your goodbyes over the body (if you even need that) and then walking away and asking someone else to "take care of it".

To me.. it was like someone with a loved one about to die in a hospital and them asking the staff if they could be the one to pull the plug. It was just unnecessary and unrealistic.

I understand they were trying to milk the audience and create an emotional moment but for me while watching it I was just like "What a stupid _____!".

:lol:lol:lol:rotfl

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I'd take measures to make sure my loved ones didnt come back as some unholy abomination. I wouldnt wait until they revived then put them down, that's not an image I'd want to carry around.
