but my wounded wallet sez "get your whiny azz back in there"

That time of the week again. Trying to avoid GOT spoilers. I went on youtube to check something entirely unrelated and almost read some ***t without even realising it.

Going back to work after a week of dealing with rational normal people who know to take care of themselves....

To dealing with the public who are dumb as crap and cannot think for themselves at all...

I'm gearing up for a binge-watch and have managed to avoid them for weeks so far. Even my go-to daily newspapers are at it, putting spoilers on their front page. Arseholes.

Not a single episode. I be like

I assumed you meant the ad at the beginning of a video and then the ads that pop up randomly in the middle of videos that kill the flow of what you're watching

New youtube is screwing everybody.

Even innocent videos are having taken their ad money out.
Any video having the least conservative views is getting flagged and taken out.
Some people are having their entire Gmail accounts erased for a single comment.

Google even banned a college professor for posting crime statistics.

Peoples entire business accounts are being shut down.
They are messing with peoples livelihood

That is correct, tangible and verifiable.

What's more frightful is that it's neural network bots that are doing all the censorship. 1984 is coming to pass in a more bizarre way than we imagined.

Not really. You can choose not to use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or any of the social media sites. How you use the Internet is up to you. 1984 would only be here if the Federal government became fully authoritative, limited freedom of speech, and punished what it deemed as unacceptable speech through harsh sedition laws. Think of the Soviet Union, for example.

But, to your point, bots are doing a lot of things now. I also think most Amazon bans are done solely by bots. That's why there's no chance of appealing them.

Sure you can "choose", but your every activity is recorded by your devices (even physical activity), all your online profiles (professional ones included), your searches indexed and filed, not to mention news outlets/sources alternate to mainstream media are promoted or censored based on political alignment, among other things.

I only know of one developer friend who doesn't use FB, but she still uses LinkedIn, if you can barely escape it now, you won't in the near/mid future, even less so if full digital currency happens.

Also, in the near future you will go to jail for mis-gendering someone, I know that's already the case on some places in Canada, but don't quote me on that.

Pretty sure "hate speech" is jail worthy in Canada.
