Apparently the class isn't Pro-America enough. I suppose as long as the hillbillies can shoot guns, praise Jesus, and work the register at McDonalds then everything is okay. Meanwhile, my wife has to buy supplies for her classes with our money because the dip****s in charge would rather spend money changing the curriculum to teach that 'Merica is #1 (even though Oklahoma is ranked 48th in education in the US).

I aced my U.S. History AP test (got a 5; valedictorian went to Harvard and only got a 3) and I'm still aggresssively pro-American. Just another reason why government doesn't belong in education (Jefferson was wrong about public schools).

I think if someone truly loves America and values freedom, they'd favor a balanced curriculum, to accept both the good and the bad that has come from our nation's history; and to enable kids to make up their own minds on issues, without any attempts to indoctrinate them. I haven't seen the AP curriculum, and maybe it has changed since I was in high school. But, back in 2003, I enjoyed it a lot.

I'm an aide and I didn't know what it meant. I deal with PK and K kids though. Not everyone has the same books and courses though.

The guy that put forward the bill has pulled it temporarily for "rewording". Apparently they "didn't realize how it was written". I think they weren't expecting any opposition to the bill and now are trying to save face after it made national news that they are idiots. All it really means is that they will try to sneak it by again later--probably attached to some bill that needs to pass.

They didn't list anything specific, just said it portrayed America in a negative light. Not enough emphasis on "American exceptionalism"--which is a PC version of "Yee-haw! 'Merica's #1!" What's annoying is that the people pushing for the removal didn't even understand how the AP classes are taught and aren't considering the benefits gained by students who do well on the tests and get college credit. At one point they were considering replacing the all AP classes with a new Oklahoma-developed version but decided not to go forward due to the cost and the fact that it wouldn't be recognized by any colleges. Now the idiots are back to concentrating on figuring out ways to screw over gays that live here. Yep...lots to be proud of as a resident of Oklahoma.

That wasn't so much a slight on you as it was the education system itself. I am sorry for any offense.
We're doomed because we continue to allow ourselves to become dumber because it's easier and cheaper.
