I watched every episode of The Osbournes. They were not Christian and they never talked about it. They had crucifixes and crosses all over their house to cool and blasphemous. Sharon decided she wanted to be Jewish halfway through when they renewed their wedding vows.

:lol:lol:lol You're terrible at interpreting people you know that? When I said that line sums up the song THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT. You need to stop talking down to me, pal. Or I'll cast a hoodoo curse on you. ;)

Nooooo! I deleted that post to avoid conflict but you quoted it.:pfft:

Well, sorry, but Sharon said they were. It was in one of the early shows. And I doubt that a satanist would hang crosses and crucifixes in their house anway. And if she did become Jewish, then I've never heard of a Jewish satanist either. :lol

I love how nutty this thread is! :yess:

would you say its batty?

Don't make me break out my Osbournes DVDs, they smell like pot.

I don't remember any line anywhere declaring what faith they believed in. At one point they bought a giant Buddha to put in their garden. Sharon decided Judaism would be fun for their vow renewal since her father, whom she was formerly estranged to, was Jewish, and they did perform a Jewish ceremony. Marilyn Manson and his then-wife were invited to the reception.

Also if they were going to get all Christiany at any point in the series it wouldn't have been in one of the first episodes, when everything was going fine and dandy for them. It would have been in the second season when Sharon came down with colon cancer and Ozzy got all desperate.

Longtime Ozzy fan here. But both Ozzy and Dio danced in the guise of Satanism. As a money-making gimmick? Maybe. Real Satanists a la Anton LaVey were chummy with rock stars though. Metal in particular has always invoked "demonic" themes, like Ween said, the Evangelical protesters dubbed the :rock hand to stand for Satan, and most people today think that's really what it means when they flash that sign. I was a product of the 90s and rock stars like Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson (buddies, the two of them) did dabble in the occult and make no secret about it. Heck Manson brags about it (I watched his "Celebrity Ghost Story" show - complete BS that one, I read his autobiography and he would have mentioned that story in it if it had really happened).

It's just in vogue to think of metal as being Satanic, and mainly that's a negative point to most people, but it's marketed to young, rebellious kids who think evil is pretty cool. So "Christian Metal" is almost like an oxymoron and that's why it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I take no issue with any of that. :peace

However, I would still maintain that there are very few sincere Satanists in any Metal. Even most Black Metal artists are just using it as a metaphor.

The lyrical content of the Metal I listen to is generally either abstract or positive. Bands like Nightwish, Epica, and In Flames do not have Religious content either way, but the lyrics are very positive and not at all Satanic. So for me Christian Metal doesn't stick out all that much. :dunno

I know the lyrics to War Pigs, Mag. I don't need to read them.

I still take exception to this. ;)

Satan is in no way put in a good light in that song. He is associated with the people the song condemns.

A Satanist would not write those lyrics, even if they aren't meant to be taken literally. Period.

It might've been the episode where they were fighting with the neighbors for singing crappy songs real late at night and so Ozzie starting throwing things over at them, like a ham. :lol
