Again , a lot of anger.....

Presumptuous. This is love.

I can see why people voted for Trump.

I didn't.

I don't mind paying taxes, it's what keeps the country running and helps the poor.

I'm glad you don't mind. Start a GoFund me page. I won't have a gun to my head because I do mind. That's the actual issue here; not your personal moral sunbeam.

Sure it's enabling a lot of people's laziness, but I am willing to take that risk if it helps a few family's realize their dream.

And you have no respect whatsoever for the victims sacrificed to pay for their dreams. Ironically, the Feds would be a lot cheaper to finance without your crusades. They would have remarkably little to do were they not scheming to nationalize healthcare or some other industry that actually does keep the country functioning while they pretend to be indispensible.

Ok I will bite....

What are your solutions? Kick the poor to the curb? Wipe out all of Islam? Walk away from nations that do not have the wealth we have and allow control from the most brutal?

Please, I really need to hear your vision of America and the world.

Just have to say: I don't think anyone here is qualified, in any way, to talk about global politics, or the solutions to very pressing and complex problems in the world. I'm saying that based solely on the level of "intelligent" discussion that I've seen here, which usually amounts to nothing more than keyboard raging, and constant regurgitating of the mantras from talk radio. And I'm absolutely not referring to devil on this - just a general statement.

So is my take drivel?

Why? Have you met politicians before? The vast majority of them are morons with fake college degrees from top schools that wouldn't survive in the real world without the benefit of their last name

I love these conversations.....people love to complain and offer zero in the way of their solutions.

If you have an opinion besides not wanting to pay taxes and bombing everyone who disagrees with you....spit it out.....dont hide behind veiled insults and innuendo......be a man/woman and tell us how you think things should be......unless your squeamish about letting people know where you actually stand?

I know plenty of folks who will stand up and say "screw the poor" and carpet bomb all Arab nations......they say it all the time. If you disagree post that instead of just attacking another persons stance on things........

Show us who you are and what you believe.

As stated...taxes pay for a crap ton of stuff...not just welfare mothers as many love to say. We need a tax system , and paying to help people in need is a worthy cause.

Less that 1% of Muslims are radical.More people die each day from things unrelated to terrorism....yet people freak out if there is an attack ( exactly what terrorism is suppose to do)

Immigration is a good thing for America , and it what the county is founded on. It should never be dismantled or curtailed based on unjustified fear.

No you determined paying taxes is a good think, I do not. How is a retired politician making $160k a year pension with full healthcare a good use of anyone's money?

I will be happy to give you details xipotec. After coffee.

Amen, brother.

Maybe some day....all respects to your beliefs.....last few days have been rough and politics on a forum is poison.

We should all be thankful we have computers to access these forums and enough extra scratch to buy expensive dolls....

All this talk helping poor, ending terror and hunger when there are Iron Man dolls and DCEU movies to hate on.

:lecture I think we need to help the poor as well. Just let me step off my soap box and go dust off my collectibles that I have Thousands invested in and I'll get right on it.

Rotfl.......

I appreciate you and thank you for your perspectives, xipotec. Just a technical difficulty but this country was actually founded on genocide. Immigration nearly wiped out a whole population. And those who survived and didn't conform to the "new values" were sent to boarding school/killed. I think the basis of immigration anxiety right now, with many Americans, comes from this knowledge and fears of this repeating to some extent. #AmericanHistory

America has greatly, positively changed the world overall. But it's beginnings were not some sort of dream sequence like elementary teachers tell you during Thanksgiving time. Let's not continue the fallacy that the country was built on the wonderful idea of immigration.

The problem is that Less than 1% might be radical, but almost no one is allowed to criticize, and millions of people have to look the other way unless they get hurt for saying anything, specially women, who are pretty oppressed (sometimes living in constant fear). Even the vocal feminist groups in the west turn a blind eye to that....i mean, come on,

But, it's definitely not a "us against them" situation, because the majority of ISIS victims have always been Muslims. In any case, you raise a good point about the Islamic states having a very atrocious human rights record, especially Saudi Arabia (whom the Trump administration was really cosying up to several weeks ago, despite his tough campaign talk, but I'll leave that for another discussion).

Overall, I'm more interested in how people choose to live their lives. There's always a choice, regardless of what the ancient books of a religion compel their followers to do. You can even use the Bible to justify any sort of atrocity - whether it's the practice of slavery, keeping women oppressed, forcing gays to convert (which many evangelical churches practice to this day), or stigmatizing those with legitimate mental illnesses and need of therapy as being demonically possessed (unfortunately, I've been there).

I do think that moderate Muslims in the States, need to speak out against the barbarism of some practices, especially honor killings. You can only hope that in time, they'll be more comfortable in doing it - although, groups like CAIR do a pretty good job of suppressing views that don't align with their political agendas.
