I get where you're coming from and can respect that you are very giving with your money. I just think the problem is people try to generalize his/her own values onto others. Personally, I am not happy with 34% when I know that most of that $ never makes it to said destination. That doesn't mean you or I are "bad." It's just different value systems. Plus, I have to take care of my extended family and 34% really cuts from that ability these days...Stuff just costs more. I just wish people had the option of choosing how much taxes they pay. Most would choose the least amount. But noble people like yourself would be able to help the others in need financially.
In general, I'll say this too (with regards to the immigration issue). I'm part Native American. My community has a different perspective on this that is highly unpopular with most of America. But it definitely puts perspective. And that is that some (not all) Native communities find it laughable that Americans think they have the ability to prevent others from entering the country given the problematic way the East introduced itself in the west a few hundred years ago (as immigrants). In contrast, people who argue to let other immigrants in are ALSO hypocritical. It wasn't your land to give in the first place and yet those who oppose walls have the mindset that the US territories are theirs to give to other immigrants. Think about how you obtained that land and the idea that you are giving something away that you were not entitled to to begin with.
Just some thoughts and perspectives on the situation. Carry on.
