Dont you worry guys. Its at 94% now. With any luck it will get lower. Don't stress. Damn a lot of people sitting through a movie and pouting[emoji36] [emoji23][emoji23]
Saw it last night as promised and just got up this morning. Oh boy, what to say...
The Good:
Visually I loved pretty much everything about it (minus some of the Sakaar scenes). The film certainly has its moments, and I loved the overall storyline when it was properly used (which isn't very often, I'll talk about this more in "The Bad" section). All of the cast are very solid in their roles even if they are a bit annoying at times (Grandmaster I found particularly annoying). Most of the action sequences are well done and easily some of the best parts of the film. My favorite scenes of the entire film are the scenes when...
...Hela kills the Asgardian soldiers, Hela explains her backstory, and the scene where she resurrects the dead soldiers and Fenris with the Eternal Flame.
She was actually my favorite part of the film. She has plenty of good action sequences, is tons of fun to see on screen, has a passable amount of screen time, and has some decent dialogue when it isn't hindered by the comic relief. However, the only things that really make her a step above some of Marvel's past bland villain offerings are the performance, visuals, and of course the fun factor. Loki is easily my second favorite part of the film as he is still a great character and we've gone for far too long without seeing him on the big screen.
The Bad:
This is one of those movies where they show you a lot of good story elements but never fully utilize them - ever. To me it almost feels like an attempt by the studio to troll the audience by saying "Hey, we know we can do this, but we won't anyway and instead we'll substitute it for comic relief or pretend it didn't happen". I can't tell if the writing was originally this lazy or if it just turned out that way because of the humor. I didn't feel that any of the characters had their backstories explored to their full potential. Grandmaster was by far the most underused as we only get these vague hints as to his origin. Hela's backstory is ironically the most fully-explained albeit still not fully utilized. Skurge was a joke.
And of course, now we get to that part. Albeit overused in the MCU's past, humor has never been something that fully hindered by ability to enjoy any of their movies. Unfortunately, that's not the case here. The opening scene with...
...Thor and Surtur...
...pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the film from start to finish. The final battle is by far the weakest part of the film, both due to the nonstop one-liners and the fact that very little emphasis is actually put on the coming of Ragnarok until near the end of the battle. I wanted there to be some humor in this, but not American Werewolf in London-level humor where I just can't stomach stake and ice cream on the same plate.
Conclusion:
Overall it was an enjoyable watch and I'm certainly glad I went to see it. However, despite its moments, I can't help but feel that the film was a massive waste of potential on so many levels. They show you so many glimpses of really good stuff, but whenever you think they'll use it, they don't. Thor (2011) is by far the superior film in my book, although this is still far better than The Dark World where the entertainment factor is concerned.
On my first viewing I'd give it a solid 6/10. I may very well be coming off more negative than I really mean to sound and I might be a bit too harsh. I desperately wanted to like this more when walking out of the theatre, but I simply cannot bring myself to. If the rumor is true that they made this a full-blown comedy to make the "impact" of IW greater, then it is truly a shame that they had to sacrifice the quality of what could have been one of the best MCU installments. Who knows, I may change my mind on a second viewing.
I rate MCU movies on their connections to the MCU at large more specifically the importance leading up to IW and then I give my opinion on the movie itself.
Ok so...
Lead up to IW: FAIL! Just like with GOTG2 a huge let down as to why these events matter to the Thanos plot WHO MARVEL STATED IS THE MAIN VILLAIN OF THE MCU!
Movie itself: Solid fun time and unlike the flat lifelessness Doctor Strange movie Thor 3 is worthy of the critics high praises.
My favorite part of the movie:
How mind numbing gorgeous and sexy Blanchett was as Hela.
Goddess of Death is right if you are a male she will own you.
I literally couldn’t take my eyes off her.
JUST HER SEXINESS ALONE MAKES THIS MOVIE A WIN IN MY BOOK!
JUST THE WAY SHE MOVES HER FREAKING HAND WILL GIVE YOU A BONER!
Valkyrie was also sexy in her end costume just not Hela sexy.
The rest of the movie was entertaining enough while you wait to see Hela again.
Thor flying was bad ass.
Some of the visual were drop dead gorgeous!
Great use of the immigrant song happy to see it used so effectively BUT the soundtrack itself was almost non existent blah.
But that song nailed it when it was needed to be used, perfect!
It's a lie from a pseudo-geek who loves to make mundane pointless posts consistin' of five words tops.
He also loves everything MCU. Look at him tryin' to stir it up:
Four moderator's words is worth hundreds of thousands of words from mere non-premium plebs.
All of us who didn't like this movie should just give up and think about our pathetic lives full of hate and misery...
"OMG Oh how dare you rate a movie based on the attractiveness of a character/actress! That doesn't have any baring on the quality of the movie! You're a misogynist! OMG"
- Will holler every SJW elitist.
But LOL yeah that was my favorite part too, and the only reason I'm buying the Blu-ray.
“1960s Jack Kirby was our inspiration," production designer Dan Hennah told Marvel.com. "I’ve read Jack Kirby comics since I was 15 years old. So for me it was fantastic and to really get deeply into it, I was always just influenced by this big star of the comics."
"While Ragnarok might not have mimicked Kirby's images exactly, the spirit of the icon can be felt throughout the film's entire aesthetic."
I saw this last night. Twice. I absolutely loved it. The comedy worked for me. This is easily the best of the Thor films and I'd place it solidly in the top 1/3 of the 17 MCU films.
If you're worried about it, don't be. Go see the film and allow yourself to enjoy it.

Saw it last night as well. I thought it was kewl. Fun and entertaining to look at. I can see the humor turning people off, without the weight of the world on your shoulders, you'll laugh. There were some bad jokes but also some genuine and universally funny jokes.
The rock guy kept hitting my funny bone. I know he's going to be pretty divisive, but i loved it. Him and his little insect buddy
The first scene will be the decider if you can tolerate the humor or not. I thought it was an awesome opener so I knew I was good.
I was happy to see the Immigrant song actually used. It works when it's used. Very hard not to enjoy that moment.
If the opening doesn't get you in right away you will be disappointed in the whole movie. That opening alone got me more hyped. Already best thor action / use of hammer out of all other movies. Dammit hot toys NOW i want the roadworn thor lol

There's a part of me that was like, awww man...they're ruining this villain...but my brain clicked over and just said "aw **** it, this is funny. Who cares.". Sat back and relaxed. Fun film.
