I'm actually with you on this one. I like the first Cap movie, but in general it felt pretty by-the-numbers and I think they skipped through some important points that should have received more focus, such as Cap developing as a real hero. Cap needed more genuine attention and opportunity to develop in Avengers IMO, as a leader and as a character the audience might connect to. But instead, we got another installment in the Robert Downey Jr. and Friends variety hour. Maybe Evans just doesn't have the ability to really hit on the notes Cap needs to hit on, but I'm betting it is the way he is treated in these films. I'm cautiously optimistic that Cap 2 will do a better job.

I actually feel that Thor is also someone it's hard to develop an emotional connection with, but that's more OK because he's always been aloof/detached in the comics because of his god-ness. He was never supposed to be very relatable.

I much prefer Thor over TFA any day. Cap had a solid film, but honestly it was just boring as hell, it's actually the only one of the phase 1 flicks that I don't own.

I feel exactly that way about the 2008 HULK film, so there you go. :wink1:

I loved Cap. I liked Thor - I wasn't wowed the first time, but liked it a little more after the second watch. Haven't seen IM3 yet, but there's enough good to overlook the bad in that series as far as I'm concerned.

Just watched the new Thor trailer too - looks great. :rock

I don't know if anyone else has thought this - on any level, but that snippet of Natalie on the balcony in her pretty gown, & then a cut to an angry long haired blonde guy that she loves.

Some unintentional deja vu there.. :monkey1 :lol

Feel the same way about TIH. Loved Cap, Thor & IM1, pretty meh about the rest

It's not like they follow any continuity anyway. The bridge was smashed. Thor should not have been in Avengers.

But, but, they had a throwaway single line to "explain" (read: retcon) the ending of Thor :slap

No helmet = Epic Fail!

J/k
I knew Alan Taylor would dial it up s few notches.
I think Loki cutting off Thors hand will be an illusion to fool the enemy.
Loki will help because of what I believe happens to ******.

:lol What can I say? I'm a cold-hearted *******!

Seriously though. Cap's been the only Avengers Marvel movie that didn't work for me. All the rest I felt a real connection with, and was completely engaged and enthralled. I cared for them all as characters. Hulk? Loved it. Thor? Loved it. Iron Man 1-3? Loved them all. Cap? Eh... :dunno It's a shame because I loved the character when I was a kid (especially John Byrne's run in the early 80s). The movie just didn't work for me (which I largely blame Joe Johnston for), and am frankly a little puzzled as to why others like it so much! :cuckoo: to you too, buddy!

I thought Cap was pretty interchangeable with IM2 for second to worst with Hulk coming in dead last.

Oh, thought you ment Ang Lee's Hulk, which is better than Incredible Hulk.

Yea, I liked Thor. Second only to the first Iron Man. Chris Hemsworth has done a bang up job playing the character. Not that I knew much about Thor besides from the Hulk TV movie.....

"And a man you have found!"

Avengers > IM > Thor > Cap = IM2 > Hulk

Thor surprised the hell out of me. I expected it to be the worst of them, with a hokey "god" premise, and they really nailed it having Kenneth direct.

I agree with this 100%. Thor was a pleasant surprise. Wasn't sure what was so good about Captain America aside from Red Skull.

:exactly::lecture:exactly:

Although I did enjoy the musical piece. :monkey4

If I had to lump it in, which I prefer not to since it belongs in Phase 2, I'd put it equal with Thor. It's probably the most misunderstood movie of the franchise among Freaks.

True

I like it on even days and hate it on the odd days.

I just need to take out my PTSD tampon.
