and completely off topic but threezero shared a Hannibal nbc tv show image.. so hope this means they have license. got a thread goin in horror section.

No kidding! I have no interest the figure but I love that threezero picked it up. They are snatching up all kinds of awesome that other companies have passed up. Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, GoT. All these are obvious profitable licenses. Now Hannibal. It would be cool if they picked up the Sopranos or Deadwood etc. I don't think I'd pick any of them up but it would be cool for the diehard fans and that it's off the well beaten track of other licenses.

I'm still freaked out about it tonight.
Yeah, that was horrifically disgusting.
To be honest i have the exclusive and probably won't display the sword which he had in one scene or the cloak which he only had in the pilot. Nice option to have but not that big a deal IMO.
I really want the tunic and HotK badge he wears for the majority of the season in Kingslanding.

Well, I will have to try to wrap my head around the fact that not everyone feels the same as I do, but I must tell you in advance, it's going to be difficult. :lol

I think the beginning was the coolness high point of Ned Stark and it sets the tone of the whole show.

I think the image of Ned holding Ice like that is one of the most iconic images of the show. While Ned only wields Ice that one time, the great sword itself is a very important to the show.

I wonder if HBO has softened their anti-merch stance on some of those older series at this point. They've really seen merchandising take off for Thrones and they now seem to be diving in head-first. (Not just 1/6, they're merchandising the bejeeezuz out of that show with all kinds of stuff.) Lots of companies over the years tried to get a Sopranos license (including Sideshow, who also wanted to pick up Deadwood if memory serves) but were rebuffed. Repeatedly. I wonder if they'd be as resistant to that today?

The market demand for GoT merchandise must be twenty times that of The Sopranos since you have the book buyers as well. Of course the ones that read the books are also the ones who watch the show, but the whole phenomenon of GoT is much larger than Sopranos .

I'm not arguing that Sopranos (or to a MUCH smaller degree, Deadwood) would rival Thrones in merchandising sales. What I'm wondering is, now that HBO has taken a much more serious plunge into the merchandising world than they ever have before, would they be more amenable to loosening up their previous restrictions on those titles.

That said, I think there would be a solid market for a couple of high end Sopranos figures. Not as big as Thrones, obviously, but I would think a Tony figure would sell as well as a Walter White or maybe HT's Vito Corleone.

agreed, i think a tony would sell well enough to justify gettin license. we should have a fan requested potential license list thread for threezero and direct them to it on Fb. could be fun.
:clap

another i hope they get to eventually is Dexter

I used to watch Dexter and loved it, I don't know why I stopped really but it wasn't as good after a while. I think it probably should have ended after the Trinity killer season with a wonderful "feel-bad" ending, that would have been fitting.

yeah it went off the rails IMO, gave up as well. i read jeff lindsay walked and had no more input on show after that trinity season or sumthin. enjoyed the books and i think lindsay is writing the comic out now, so plan on checking that out. but yeah seems like with show it was a case in which the writers thought they could do a better job than the creator or w/o creators input at all, kinda silly.

I'm ashamed to admit i never realized he wore a different tunic in Kingslanding to the one in Winterfell despite watching season 1 at least 10 times.

Having looked now i agree.

I've been on the fence about this line (kinda waiting to see how Ned turned out as he was always my favorite). One question.. I thought I had read this but wanted to ask to make sure (I've read the last 20 pages looking for an answer).

Will the hands that come with the non exclusive work with the letter opener? Just wondering if I could get the iconic pose..

Thanks!

I had the same question too.

This would be a cheaper solution considering the markup on the EX version.

the ex ver comes with hands with wider grip to hold ice but word is reg sword holding hands will work, just need to be forced open abit.

I only owe Tyrion, but outside the detail on the iris, the paint app is on par with Hot Toys. I have no doubt that they will continue that. I can't wait to get Ned, he'll look great and different amongst all the modern and future figures I have.

I didn't even think I would be excited for a Hannibal license, but I absolutely am. For some reason, characters in relatively normal clothes executed well are some of the most fun 1/6 figures to me.

Now that 3Z is expanding to more TV shows, I'll be interested to see if they have the fire put under them and get more consistent with their releases. I'm surprised that AMC hasn't lost their **** with 3Z yet; NBC certainly wouldn't go for that behavior.

your assuming that the hold up is on threezero's end. maybe its the other way around and AMC and the actors and their agents are slow to approve likenesses and green light a reveal?

do think a thread where we all can discuss possible licences for threezero would be fun. :)

I concur, there's no way in hell that threezero would put TWD in the back burner, the problem must be on the other end. I feel bad for the fans, it's been too long. I would like to see some TWD zombies that could work as wights for the GOT figures.

I want to agree with both of you, but the rate with which McFarlane is pumping out their Walking Dead figures contests the theory of laziness of AMC and Co.'s licensing approval. Likewise, AMC has already approved Walter, but then again we don't know how long that was in development before it was announced.
