Bucky, you're probably right. I think I remember this figure being cancelled.

yeah so toked for pet style white walkers! been so since the moment they announced license. :clap

i think that bod sleeve was intentionally 100% to add some bulk to shoulder/traps and torso on ned. prolly had proto w/o it and compared to show pics, realized it needed more bulk and this was cheapest way rather than a bod re-tool.

My guess is, they made those bodies for a different figure/license and they didn't turn out as expected. So they might as well burn off the inventory on a character that's so fully dressed, you'll never see it. Doesn't hurt Ned at all. That would make sense to me.

I would doubt it has much to do with R&D on White Walkers. I'd say they had a pretty successful test run for that kind of technique with the WD Pets. (The Pets turned out so well, they actually got me excited to see what 3Z could accomplish with the White Walkers.)

Yeah...forgot about those Walkers...been so friggin long since anything came out of that line :banghead:banghead:banghead:banghead

I received my letter opener but not my Ned yet and I have to say the thing is "absurdly large" and if I hadn't seen the side by side posted here, I wouldn't believe it is a 1/6th scale. Part of the illusion is lost because, although it may be dimensionally correct in length and width, the thickness of it's dull letter opener blade is really apparent from any non-oblique angle (well I guess you could get oblique on the width but that will only make matters worse).

It is impressive and in some poses will look great but others will not be nearly as good as a properly "sharpened sword" look even if plastic. This thing also weighs a ton, even the best of bodies will be burdened by any action pose with this thing (although it seems more of a two handed head chopper. I would absolutely love to see a young Ned Stark wield this mother in battle. I had heard rumors of a prequel featuring Ned and Robert in battle back in the day when I worked on the show (VFX on season 3) but never heard more than that.

I don't think Ice was ever meant as a sidearm. So you won't see young Ned waving that thing around in battle. [emoji38]
I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the letter opener though. :)

Yea, the size and weight of Ice really servers only two purposes:

1 - lopping off heads

2 - "mine's bigger than yours"

Pretty much. [emoji38]

I think I'll expand my post just in case one of the book geeks like myself decides to take me up on my comment. I don't think Ice was meant to be a sidearm IN battle. As we know in the books Set Ilyn Payne, after Neds execution, actually wears Ice on his back all the time. But we all know what he uses it for. [emoji38] Loping heads off. I can't imagine the size of the man you'd have to be to wield that monster in pitched battle. You'd be worn out in a minute. [emoji38] Maybe the Mountain.

Just to give an idea of scale this is Ice next to Neds regular sword.

This may be a stupid question - but the protrusions on either side of the blade of Ned's standard sword (emanating up from the hilt)... they stop you from putting the sword any further into its sheathe, right? I mean, the sword isn't supposed to go any further in?

It's definitely a ceremonial blade. Think about Robert's Rebellion, you hear talk of Robert and his war hammer, but not Ned and Ice.. If Ned showed up to the Tower of Joy with Ice, think about how legendary that tale would be.

Mine does that too. Didn't try to force it in. Looks kind of strange but at least its usually obscured by his cape or hands or etc haha...

What are those things? I mean, in the design of the actual sword. Are they blades? Are they a kind of guard to protect the hand or maybe trap your opponent's blade? I've always wondered about those.

wondered the same after seeing all the pics, any screenshots of that fight with jayme where you can see them? will look. i assumed they were suppose to be more flat onto the sword blade, like them sticking up at all is kinda unfortunate production error etc

they look like the toy ver here, not flat onto blade-

gotta be this

Finally had a chance to open mine yesterday having had it over a week.

Blown away. He looks much better in hand than any of the pictures. Clothes and accessories are HT quality. Sculpt and paint are not quite there yet but give them time and they will be and for the price they charge compared to HT/SS it's a great deal.

I hope this line is successful. It would be tragic if we only got 3 characters. Roll on Jon Snow.

These pictures, and they are definitely good quality pictures, show just how bad the sculpt really is.

The pictures show unflattering results due to poor lighting.

I believe you're confusing refinement with stylized oversimplification which is the trademark of some companies. Threezero's sculpts and paint, even this one specific release, are certainly well above the "standard" in 1/6 today even if they're not the same style as the products of the producers you find more appealing.

The pictures with darkened beard makes it look much much better so the sculpt itself doesn't seem that bad. He does look like he as a "snusprilla" under both his upper and under lip, there is something weird there.

I don't know how to translate snusprilla, but I think that at least those in North America are starting to learn the wonder of swedish snus.

That's officially the second most disgusting image I've seen today. But nowhere near the first one, which was a 1/6 chair upholstered in human skin and faces.

:lol It's one of those things you have to learn to enjoy, so too much work for me. I've never been a user myself but my father and brother are heavy users and I would think a majority of the male population (and more and more women) are.

Say what you will, but it's a lot nicer to the people around you than smoking cigarettes. That is of course unless it's your wife or husband..
