Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

"Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing along with Amy Pascal. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, the latter of whom worked on 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, wrote the script for Venom."

Lol, good luck with this movie.

I'm not dooming this until we see the first trailers.I really wish Tom Hiddleston wasn't playing Loki already. I think he'd make a fantastic Carnage. Without Spidey in this film, I think Carnage has to be in it.

When I come across forum-isms like "TDKR sucks" and "Ant-Man was great" I quickly remind myself that this is a tiny and ridiculous fraction of movie-watchers that watch less than twenty films a year and those 20 are usually summer popcorn movies.

People who's heads would basically explode during a movie like There Will Be Blood from the epic boredom. People who need comic relief every five minutes and monologues that stay under a minute so their ADD won't kick in and force them to play Candy Crush on their phones.

Nobody here thinks ant man is great lol

The memos were sent out a few days ago man. You either suck the MCU's **** or the funding is off. The Mouse is playing some hard games with this board...

Yup. You can't hate on Spider-Man 3 -asm2 for being bad movies, you hate them cause your an ant man loving loser who prays to his Mickey Mouse statue every night before he goes to bed.

Fun fact tho. I do have a Mickey Mouse statue I got from Disney world. Maybe it's making me love everything marvel .

Jeez wez, why are you so low on the Marvel Worship scale? I personally jerk-off with my Mickey Gloves, wipe myself with my Spider-Man tissues, pray to Kevin Feige before bed and always yell "oh yes MARLEL" during orgasms. I gotta tell you buddy, you ain't a true MARLEL cuck yet.

Good casting move, if it pans out (seems like Hardy drops out of more pictures than your typical actor after being announced. . .). Most of the movies I've seen him in have been good, which may speak to his ability to sniff out good roles. So that could speak to the value of the movie here, but it could just be an appealing paycheck. Sony hasn't had a tremendous track record, which is concerning. But I felt there were positives to just about every Spidey film, even if the final product was sometimes lacking. And I have a lot more hope for them than I do for WB/DC. We'll see!

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

But ASM 2 had about 15 writers, including Kurtzman and Orci, who were involved in Transformers films and Star Trek: Into Darkness. It seemed pretty clear to me that that film suffered from having too many cooks in the writers' kitchen, some of whom weren't fit to be fry cooks at McDonalds. I'm going to hold off on judgment out the gate.

Re: Venom Movie: Sony working on the Spin-Off

All the studios want to establish their own shared universes. The MCU has been the most successful, despite the issues that are in many of its films. Regardless of that however, it is very impressive what they have done. I think that Fox has come closest to what the MCU has done, as they have had some films that have delivered. DC seems like they are more or less taking the whole "shotgun approach" which is not helping with their vision, or lack thereof I should say. Sony wants in on the shared universe market. ASM 2 tried for it, but we all know how that turned out. So Hardy as Venom... Interesting. I will be curious to hear what else follows from this.

If "trainwreck" means "better, more intelligent take on the Spider-Verse", then absolutely.

Homecoming looks like uninspired generic garbage. Spider-Man is not nor has ever been "Iron *****".

Out of curiosity, what has Sony done to build up this faith that you have in them? As I said, I'm personally reserving judgment, but there's not much I've seen to build optimism necessarily. The Amazing Spidey movies were not good. The others that succeeded did so because Sam Raimi was at the helm. This new one has writers with questionable credentials, the director of the sub-par Gangster's squad, a good lead actor, but a studio that has been clueless in the past.
