I actually liked the ending. I have no Transformer baggage, know nothing about the characters and have never seen the cartoon, but I loved Jetfire.
And his sacrifice at the end and Optimus' power up was an effective way of making it seem that they needed a little more oomph to defeat the Fallen.

WHATTTT?????

Honestly I was ok with Skids and Mudz and the dumb humour, this however (and the ending) is what killed it for me. Farting, a beard, a cane???

Im all for changing teh characters for the big screen, this however is a travesty.

Agreed, should have been treated with some sovereignty and dignity. For example, more like superman's elders.... I quite enjoy Michael Bay's films, this time however he just went too far.

Just a perspective from someone not familiar with the character previously. He's an old guy - you're supposed to make fun of old guys when you're 8. It fits in with all the other humor in the movie. I liked the twins too, except for the gold tooth, that was a little too much.

Gold tooth was hilarious.

And its a movie about goddamn transforming robots. It'll never be taken seriously. Ever.

saw this last night, had some good spots but also had some wth spots.
i would say at the low end of the movies i've seen this year so far.
even my 8 yr old seemed to loose interest during spots of the movie.

I think Jetfire sacrificing himself to form Optimal Optimus was pretty bad ass. Anyone who used to watch transformers knows that Optimal Optimus didnt look exactly like that but for a movie representation it was pretty freakin awesome.

I really missed the cartoon noise that was always made when they transformed. This one:

I didn't hear it once in the whole film just the sound of gears turning and clamping....anyone know why Bay left it out this time?

Well....I won't rain on the parade here, but....

Finally saw this today and...it's been a while, but if I had been by myself, I would have walked out. I haven't sat through such a groaner in ages. This was AWFUL, plain and simple.

I won't rehash all of the previous issues with it that other folks already have earlier in the thread (the lame humor, the choppy script, the way-too-long running time, the overflowing excess in EVERYTHING)...but...in a nutshell, it's now plain to see that Bay must have had extreme supervision and lots of outside feedback for the first movie...with this one, he was allowed to run rampant and hold back nothing.

Everything that was a little irritating in the first one was smack center stage in this one.....and considering the high level of success this movie saw this weekend, there's no doubt that a third one is on the way.

Some unsolicited advice for Hasbro and the producers....bring in a new director and screenwriters. It's a fun idea that still has a lot of potential...but Bay is Bay, and while he can create something that looks really good, once the action stops and the talking starts, things take a nose dive real quick.

Other than a pretty test reel for ILM, this movie was a waste...but to each their own...

Oh God, not this excuse.

As long as Bay has the reins, yes.

Honestly do you love Batman & Robin? Or the Adam West series?

Maybe you'll love G.I.Joe, too. :lol

Dogs Humping, Robots Humping, Robots Farting , Robot Balls, Robot Dicks, Stereotypical Gangsta Wannabes. Sex, Drugs, Swearing.

This is Transformers?

No wonder this movie is doing great. It plays to the lowest common denominator. It was a huge waste of time. There were some good parts, but the bad craps all over the good.

It sure was epic. Epically Retarded.

It actually makes me like the first movie a bit. That was at least not such a huge cluster^^^^.

G1 sucks. Its JUST AS CHEESY as the Bay movies. Get over it. But you guys hold that crap to a way higher level.

Oh well. You didnt like it. Boo hoo, discuss without insulting people, or GTFO.

Batman & Robin? Or the Adam West

Very good examples of how handling of a subject matter can make all the difference in a story. The Dark Knight would be just as powerful if Batman was just a dude and Joker had no makeup, it wasn't that comic book characters were in it, it was effective storytelling and acting.

While I don't hate on the Transformers movie, I do disagree with the notion that just because the subject matter comes from toys and giant robots it can only be so serious.

If someone wanted to, I'm sure an epic story could be written with the Transformers as character, the key in writing it would be to forget what Transformers are and just write as if they're people.

Will someone ever go this route, probably not, the smart money is in Transformer movies like Bay's doing, biggest audience range, parents aren't likely to take their 5 year olds to a Dark Knight style TF, but I do believe if someone wanted to, they could make an epic movie based on this subject matter.

I agree,as much as i loved the movie it still had many annoying parts that Bay overlooked, really annoying.

"Coming off its first five days in release, with an estimated gross of $201.2 million, Michael Bay's hit sequel "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" took its place in the movie history books by breaking several major box office records.

From Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg, the Paramount Pictures release joins "The Dark Knight" as only the second film in history to gross $200 million or more in its first five days. Simultaneously, the Transformers sequel eclipsed the previous Wednesday-Sunday record holder "Spider-Man 2" by grossing nearly $50 million more in ticket sales in the U.S. The film has taken over "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix's" previous title as biggest Wednesday opener, besting the film by over $15 million.

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" became the third largest worldwide opening weekend grosser, earning $274 million and beating out last summer's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Film has become the Studio's biggest international opener of all time, again besting "Indy 4" for the top honor, and ranking as the industry's 4th biggest opening of all time abroad.

The film's IMAX run also logged record-breaking milestones, becoming the biggest five-day gross for a Wednesday-opening title, with $14.4 million in tickets sales compared to "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix's" prior record of $7.3 million.

"Michael Bay has once again proven he's an outstanding filmmaker with a unique ability to connect with audiences," said Paramount Pictures Corporation Chairman and CEO Brad Grey. "The entire Paramount family is proud to be behind him and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with him in the future."

The 2007 release of "Transformers" opened to $70.5 million in the U.S. and eventually went on to earn $319.2 million domestically, and more than $700 million worldwide. The sequel has taken in $387 million worldwide to date, with final figures for the weekend due Monday."

Bring on Transformers 3! :rock

and i can think of one person that would do that brilliantly - James Cameron.

Yup, Terminator under Cameron's control was a great blend of fantasy and engaging story. It's all in the storytelling and what direction you want to go in. Bay's just not that kind of filmmaker, and I'm not putting him down, he has a style and he's very good at it, The Rock is one of my all-time favorite films, though Bruckheimer was involved in that too and he's a sharp guy. The only thing really keeping Transformers in a more immature context is that it's what they want to do, they want to cater to the little kids who'll gobble up the toys and anything else with Transformers slapped on the box, the adult fanbase, and movie goers just looking for a 2 hour escape from life, and you're not going to have that wide an audience if you get too serious with the storytelling.

I just got back from it and loved it! :banana

Know what I didn't like about the movie.....Megan Fox!!! That baby voice of her's and she was just too........greasy! I just don't know what you all see in her.

There......I said it..........let the hating begin!!! :lol
