The debate on Stem Cells was already primed to continue as the Obama Administration plans to reverse and/or overturn some of the Bush Administration's policies on it, this will complicate it and continue it further since AIDS is a pandemic.

It would be an interesting breakthrough if it all pans out but the article did make it seem like a fluke that has theoric possibilities which is far from breakthrough yet but on its way...

True. I was just amazed that it has been 20 months and the AIDS just seems to have disappeared in the guy.

would be great if it turns out true, but I cant even remember the number of times Ive seen legit news articles about a cure for AIDS only to never hear antying about it again .... :monkey1

Yes, and this usually means they died a very slow and painful death outside of the media spotlight...

But hey if they cure it....I already know who I'm gonna' do....

I hope Obama reverses the stem cell research ban. This will help so many people with so many problems.

Hopefully we can move forward in the stem cell research because other than electing an African American President we took a step backwards on gay marriage. Seeing how most people still see AIDS as a gay issue (obviously wrong) we might have problems with using AIDS to warrent stem cell research.

As history has taught us it's usually the ignorant that have the loudest voices (California is a great example of this with Prop 8) and they could stop this because someone needs to think of the non-existant children that this will harm.

"Past performance is not indicative of future success" as the fund managers say. You raise a good point but on the other hand look at the staggering medical response to HIV/AIDS in just the last decade. A cure isn't improbable anymore.

wish they could find that sure fire cure for the big C now. AIDS can be prevented easily enough through education. But cancer will creep up on you when you're not looking no matter what you do.

I was thinking the same thing. I would assume most of the people that said nay to stem cell research also said nay to gay marriage, and if they're anti-gay marriage there's no way they'll vote yes for stem cell research just because it may cure the "gay disease".

Gay marriage law would find more support if they weren't so badly written and full of holes.
