Umm...are these mcdonalds happy meal toys?

Chris

I really can not disagree more. They've provided one of the most robust and complete movie lines in recent memory. The other thing is they actually seem to be selling well. Also, I've seen tons of kids around the Tron toys and having their parents buy them. I think they did a great job of straddling the line between making toys that have great detail and packing in action features to appeal to kids. Do I wish they had better articulation in parts? Sure. Could the Kevin Flynn figure have turned out better? You bet! But I've been really happy with the figures, the vehicles, the die cast and the discs.

For me, there are quite a few more figures I'd like to see in addition to those above:

Gem
super-articulated Rinzler
Cloaked Clu
un-helmeted Quorra (it sounds like we'll get this if the line continues)
Flynn in his black outfit (with new sculpt)
un-helmeted Sam Flynn
Daft Punk figures
Bartik

Recognizer playset
and the 3-Man Light Jet (there are actually rumors this might have appeared in a UK site's inventory list... I hope it happens.)
well aren't you just easy-to-please. Spin Master is at least 15 years behind in the sculpting/posability department. just think of what Hasbro or Mattel or NECA could've done with this franchise. what a waste. i'm gonna stick to getting the Hot Toys figures and forget these disasters ever existed.

oh, and Spin Master won't make Daft Punk figures. Medicom still has that license. don't even get me started on them.

You're right, the paint apps are so much better from Hasbro. And what a great likeness!

or Mattel

Mattel really have some cutting-edge sculpting going on here! I can't believe how attractive she is too. And look at all that articulation.

or NECA could've done with this franchise.

You're right, I managed to snag a product list from an alternate universe for the NECA releases!

2010 Assortment:
Clu 7'' action figure with disc
Clu 7'' action figure (darker shade of yellow variant) and baton
Sam Flynn 7'' action figure with disc
Sam Flynn 7'' action figure (lighter blue variant) and baton

Coming in 2011:
Well, let's see how those do first in the specialty market and crammed between bloody video game figures in Tru's collector section.

what a waste.

You're right, the options would have been SO much better!

^^hit the nail on the head Jon!! Totally agree man!

Especially about NECA and Mattel. If NECA made these, there's be even less articulation especially in the 7" line. The only POA's on the NECA Prince of Persia 7" line was the head, and maybe the arms. They were all pretty much one posers and thats it. I'll buy a statue if I want that but wait, I don't collect statues...

I love how retarded your post was. SpinMaster sucks. They created figures below what mass marketed figures should be. Hasbro makes fantastic toys. The Indy line, sans Marion, kicked ass. Most of Mattel's stuff are made very well, with a ton of great articulation, and detail. But you picked one that sucked.

NECA's paint may be terrible, but all the TRON Legacy figures would've been passable, unlike these stupid things. :lol

Well it's hard to defend against such an intelligent, well thought out post.

I will say that Hasbro, Mattel and NECA make some really good figures. For instance, I'm a fan of the Marvel Universe line, the MOTU line and I adore my Dead Space Isaac figure. They also make some bad figures on occasion.

At the end of the day, I think SpinMaster has done the same. Most of the figures in the Tron range have a nice range of movement (I've had fun posing them; the only thing missing is the overrated ab-crunch) and a fun light-up feature. If some adult collectors want to be all whiny about them then I think that's fine. But I think the Light Cycles, discs and the Light Runner are all great toys. There are things I'd like to change - a constant "on" switch would be nice, but it just makes me laugh when people get their melodramatic panties in a bunch over toy lines.

The deluxe line of figures is especially nice in the sculpt and detailing. The one drawback is the wonky hip articulation. I'd say the only real misfire of the bunch so far is the Kevin Flynn toy. It's an important misfire- and one I hope they correct with a black-clothed Flynn - but for me it's not a deal breaker.

But you know, at the end of the day SpinMaster is very much a toy company. They really haven't had a lot of lines where collector's were much of a consideration. I think they'll take the feedback on this line and make an even better line should they choose to do figures for the animated series or if a sequel happens.

At the end of the day, the continued success (or failure) of the line is what will tell the real story of whether it was successful and hit it's TARGET MARKET (kids) or not.

Anyone see the Rinzler disk anywhere yet?

Yes I did. This was at Target. Also found Kevins disk at the same store. Picked both up. They only had one of each. I hope we see CLU's disk.

Thanks again for the tip. Found CLU's Lightcycle 2day. Sweet!!!

No problem! Glad you got one. I really hope they either make a Rinzler or Clu Sentry's Light Cycle too. I mean, both would be great but I'm not sure they'd do that. Each of them have a slightly different design. I was surprised that Clu's was a Wal-Mart exclusive for that very reason.

I would love to see Rinzler's and CLU Sentry's Cycle. I wonder if we will see Quorra's off road vehicle with the monster tires?

Don't know if they will get to a series 3 or not, so I went ahead and made my own Tron and also tried out "Tron-o-tizing" a RoC figure and think he turned out pretty cool looking...

I added two Clu's Sentry figures to my collection...

Basically I've come to the conclusion that the light up feature really doesn't add much to the toy. These lights are supposed to be ALWAYS ON.. so it's better when they're painted.

It gets harder to turn on every figure to get a picture but here's the group. Need a young clu head to make it work.

the Tron action figures are selling very well. I've gone to a few toys r us, target and walmarts after Christmas and there are no action figures anywhere to be seen. I think this is an example of not making enough to meet the Christmas demand. I even went to a Disney Store today and they only had a few of the larger figures and none of the smaller ones. Hopefully this means we will see more characters created.

Really? Over here at my TRU, Target and Disney Store, they have either been peg warming or been restocked often.

it may be a Cali thing..seems like you guys get a lot of stuff before us over here in TX. my brother is always telling me about siting new figs while it's months before I see anything that he's already seen on the shelves.

Tron is practically out over here too though. I can tell that when I see more "in stock" they're just Christmas returns as it's typically just 1 or 2 that weren't there before, or they're slightly peeled open or drastically peeled open. Sometimes I can't believe that a store would take back a completely opened figure? who would buy that? half the fun is opening the figure
