just got back from seeing it in IMAX 3D! movie was great! felt like a great addition to the original and love tying things back and saying to myself "I remember that" and such. i know the story wasn't great but I'm not a story kind of person who looks that deeply into films. it was great for me!

also saw this:
You liked Revenge of the Fallen!!! :horror
Why would you care about story and following rules?
Bay said Megatron couldn't transform into a pistol due to some "matter cannot shrink" crap, yet the Cube does shrink?...
He said Megatron wouldn't be in TF2 yet there he was...
Transformers doesn't follow any rules either...

and just wanted to address the part in Bold. Originally, Bay said that it was supposed to be Galvatron like how in the original animated movie Megatron gets revamped after being pretty much beaten to almost useless parts through his fight with Optimus, gets found by Unicron and turned into Galvatron. So no there wasn't going to be Meagtron in the film but Glavatron, but still played by Hugo Weaving.

But then said that most ppl don't know all the history behind how Megatron became Galvatron and thought it would be simpler to keep it as Megatron. if you compare Galvatron's original look with the "3 peaked crown" on his head you'll see that TF2 Megatron has a similar look to the top of his head.

anywhoo that is why Megatron was still in TF2. he never left, was just going to come back as Galvatron.

Visuals were pretty cool but plot and character development were a little light for me.

all three of those have at least a small helping of cheese.

haha "small helping of cheese"
sorry man i have to disagree there, predator is about as solid of a action film there is, terminator and ALIENS have its cheese moments (oh god especially those terrible 80s hair cuts!) i guess, but then again what film doesn't?

So Arnold saying "Stick Around" was not Cheesy?

I'm sure what's cheesy is subjective to the individual. People say cheesy stuff all the time IRL too. No doubt those are all good movies.

Predator has the MOST cheese out of all those movies.

The arm wrestling hand shake, the gun fights, "Stick Around", all Arnold's one liners.....the movie is a big ol ball of cheese. But dammnit, it's fantastic! :lecture

Exactly. And that's why I love 80s movies. To deny any of those 3 movies having a cheese factor is just absurd.

Watched the original last night. Actually felt a bit more for the characters, and corporate espionage is always a fun theme, especially in 80s movies - and it was really fun to see how they used to imagine computers back then - but it's about on the same level, screenplay-wise. Definitely a mess.

Still don't understand why he wouldn't "de-rez" like the rest of them (and why Sam bleeds real blood) since apparently he was scanned into digital data. The water/rain/drinks in the bar were kind-of explained - I am just imagining it as "clean code" or something now.... but then, if Sam/Kevin are still "organic" (somehow), why would they be able to drink it and live off of it (assuming the food is the same way)? Just seems like those rules were just never thought out... lazy world-creation (in Inception terms :lol).

LOVED the effects... so fun to watch and brought back lots of great memories of the time period. Also, why was Kevin so shocked to find out that EnCom had a tower when Sam mentioned that in Legacy? They had the tower in this one too

Hey, we dont know if Kevin would've either "derezzed" or exploded with gore if he got hit.

Damn Disney, i'd love to see a human get Identity Disced. :lol

Sam DID have a brush with an identity disc, and he BLED. That leads one to believe he would explode with gore if he got really smashed with one.

Also, there were a couple of times that the programs in the first TRON said something like, "why didn't you de-rez?" - cuz when he gets hit with stuff he just falls down and goes, "oof!"

I do like all the programs and users stuff though - 5/10 is not a bad score! Creative and cool - but really sloppy.

It's not perfect. It could've been better....but man, it could've been worse. :lol

I know he bled...but I still want to see a human get "derezzed". :lol
