Women's MMA is not a joke. They aim to take each others head off too.

What the promotion and the regulaters are doing with this fight is quite amusing imo.

I'm still really looking foward to it.

Womens MMA is like Womens Boxing: The biggest problems are there aren't enough women participating from the jump and for the small groups that are there's such a HUGE gap between the skilled fighters and the mediocre ones that there's rarely more than a handful of competitive fights to be made.

For every Laila Ali, Lucia Rijker, Christy Martin, etc. there's 100 or so other females boxers who simply can't compete.

For every Megumi Fujii, Tara Larosa, Cris Santos, Gina Carano, etc. there's 100 or so other female MMA fighters who simply can't compete.

Add to that, a lot of the top female talent in boxing and MMA usually aren't even in the same weight classes. So realistically you have like 2 or 3 at the most top talent in one weight division who demolish everyone else, fight each other and then beyond that: no other great match ups. And since so few women are getting into either sport, you don't see any up and coming contenders. It's the same women every year.

That's why honestly neither sport is taken serious. Not because of the truly talented female boxers/mma fighters. It's because of the majority NOT so skilled female boxers/mma fighters.

That's pretty much exactly what I think too. I don't know what weight Fujii or Larosa fight at, but if Strikeforce really needs to get one of them to fight whoever wins this title.

Wand looks pretty ridiculous at this weight. I really want him to win, but have a gut feeling that Franklin will take it.

Well that's the problem: Megumi Fujii fights at 115 lbs and Tara Larosa fights at 125 lbs now (majority of her fights were at 135 lbs). The majority of female MMA fighters compete at 135 lbs and under. The only reason there was ever a 140 lbs division created (EliteXC) and now a 145 lbs division created (Strikeforce) is because of Gina Carano.

This fight between Carano and Santos is actually going to be the first fight for BOTH women where they'll be facing an opponent who weighs the same or possibly more come fight night. Both Carano and Santos are use to being bigger than their opponents. So that'll be interesting to see how they deal with that aspect.
Sucks.. but not enough women want to fight to really make deep divisions.

Here's to hoping Davis annihilates that mohawk ****** Hardy.

I so hope that he does. I can't stand that dude. he gets two wins off of people who aren't really anybody, they are just like trying to make a name of himself and now he gets Marcus Davis because of smack talking. I hope it's a 2nd round KO in the 3rd minute. (fantasy pick)

damn.
Im way more interested in the undercard fights tonight than the late fights.
dont think the whole event is PPV worthy, but I really want to see the Davis, Fisher & Swick fights ...

I just looked up the word Warrior in the dictionary and the definition was Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva. Unreal fight.

I cannot believe how much Kongo was dominated tonight. I guess the UFC video game was right in giving me so much trouble with Cain.
