UFC 116 - July 3, 2010
HW TITLE: Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir or Shane Carwin

Interesting, according to Dana White if the winner of Mir vs. Carwin (UFC 111 this month on the 27th) isn't ready to go by July (injured, etc.) then Cain Velasquez will get the title shot instead. Actually at the time, it was the winner of Big Nog vs. Velasquez would get the shot (but we all know what happened there). If that's the case.. then it looks like Cain gets first shot at either the HW champ (Lesnar) or the undisputed HW champ regardless of who it is. Which is a problem.. because that means Cain has two choices:

1. Wait it out. Best case, winner of Mir vs. Carwin can't fight and Cain fights for the HW title in July. Worst Case: No injury.. winner of Mir vs. Carwin fights Lesnar in July and Cain doesn't get his shot at the undisputed HW title until Nov/Dec.

2. Take a fight in the mean time and risk losing.. not only taking an L (would be his first loss) but also losing his title shot.

9 - 10 months (potentially) is a long time to sit out.

Did anyone catch UFC Primetime-GSP vs Hardy? Part 1/3 aired last night. It airs again on VS tonight, then again on Spike tomorrow followed by part 2/3.

They did a really good job with GSP vs Penn II.

yeah that was pretty cool to see teh UFC primetime show. I really like when they show them training and such.

What happened with Tito??? I hear Chuck is now fighting Rich Franklin. Tito let alot of strange comments hit twiiter during the taping of TUF. strange, I dont know if Tito got hurt or something crazy happened during TUF, either way if Chuck fights Rich they gotta stop having the TUF coaches fight becuase it never happens, the new Madden jinx.

I just went to google more details and probably ruined the next TUF season for me, eventhough its all rumours I hate spoilers. MMA Weekly.com is sticky with the story, saying they believe their sources and the fight is agreed by both fighters. Either way something had to happen with the TUF season and Tito. Time will tell.

Wasn't he supposedly hurt before/during/after the Griffin rematch?

Doesn't matter either way. Injured, healthy, Tito is irrelevant to the LHW division.

Other news: Roger Huerta signed with Bellator Fighting Championship. He's going to be participating in a 8-Man LW Tourney. Winner gets a shot at the BFC LW Champ: Eddie Alvarez. THAT would be a nice fight.

Yeah I heard that about Huerta. Too bad the UFC and him couldn't negotiate but I can definetely understand where the UFC is coming from. He puts on good fights and this might be the best thing for him, if he beats Alvarez that will put him in the top five in the LW division.

top 5? highly doubt it..

I like Roger and I like Eddie and that would be an awesome fight for sure. I figured he was going to sign with Strikeforce before anything else, but I think Bellator is for real. They really have there stufff together, there format of tournaments is pretty awesome and doing it by seasons. No matter good luck to Roger.

According to Huerta, it came down to fights per year. The UFC originally offered Huerta a 5 fight deal, but those 5 fights were spread out over like 3 years or something. Most UFC fighters fight like twice a year simply because of the amount of talent that has to be featured per card. Huerta wanted more fights, the UFC couldn't give him more. Simple. Same thing with Strikeforce, hell they only PUT ON a couple cards per year as is (not counting those crappy Showtime cards with unknowns) and they barely have a LW division. So they couldn't offer Huerta a steady amount of fights per year either. With Bellator.. Huerta at the very least could fight 3 times in a 12 week span. Plus a 4th fight with Eddie Alvarez. Plus other fights. It's conceivable Huerta could fight 6 times this year if he wanted. No way he could do that with the UFC or Strikeforce.

Huerta is nuts. He fought 5 times in 07, and none of those were on the same night. ...but only fought twice in the last two years. He's a pretty exciting fighter, I hope he gets what he wants.

yeah personally I like Huerta also and hope he does well. I mean wasnt he a model/actor. I know hes in that crappy tekken movie. I dont care about his acting, I think hes an exciting fighter, cant wait to see him.
