Ratings are in for last night. Strikefarce bombed big time.

Saturday 4/17/10

-Total Viewers:
Fox: 5.06 million, NBC: 4.46, ABC: 3.80, CBS: 2.95

-Adults 18-49:
Fox: 1.4 rating/5 share, ABC: 1.1/ 4, NBC: 1.0/ 4, CBS: 0.9/ 3

---------------

-Saturday’s Winners:
Nothing

-Saturday’s Losers (excluding repeats):
CBS Strike Force Saturday Night Fights and the night overall.

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
Fox led this third Saturday in April care of its perennial combination of Cops (original and repeat: #1, avg. 4.72 million; A18-49: #1, avg. 1.2 rating/5 share from 8-9 p.m.) and America’s Most Wanted (Viewers: #2: 5.41 million; A18-49: #1, 1.5/ 5). But just over five million viewers with a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49, on average, for the night is nothing to boast about.

NBC aired repeats of an abbreviated version of The Biggest Loser (Viewers: #4, 2.04 million; A18-49: #4, 0.5/ 2), Law & Order (Viewers: #1, 5.57 million; A18-49: #3, 1.1/ 4) and Law & Order: SVU (Viewers: #1, 5.78 million; A18-49: #1, 1.4/ 4) from 8-11 p.m. And ABC populated the evening with repeat theatrical Shark Tale (Viewers: #3, 3.57 million; A18-49: #2, 1.1/ 4 from 8-10 p.m.) and a repeat of already renewed Castle at 4.26 million viewers (#1) and a 1.0/ 3 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 10 p.m.

Over at CBS, a repeat of NCIS: Los Angeles (Viewers: #2, 3.58 million; A18-49: #3, 0.6/ 2 at 8 p.m.) led into the latest edition of ongoing sports special CBS Strike Force Saturday Night Fights, which had no punch at a mere 2.63 million viewers and a 1.0/ 3 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:

CBS Strike Force Saturday Night Fights
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 2.57 million (#4), A18-49: 0.8/ 3 (#4)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 2.55 million (#4), A18-49: 1.0/ 3 (#4)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 2.89 million (#3), A18-49: 1.2/ 4 (#2)
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 2.52 million (#3), A18-49: 1.0/ 3 (#2)

Not only did every other network beat out CBS/Strikeforce, but every other network also beat them out in the 18 - 49 age category (MMA goes after the 18 - 30 age group).

Overall, even the ratings leaders for the night had terrible numbers. So for CBS/Strikeforce to come in dead last and fail in that environment is pathetic. More people wanted to watch A Shark's Tale and F'n America's Most Wanted than CBS Strikeforce. :lol

3 title fights that all went to decision featuring guys who looked like bush league MMA amateurs + Biased and damaging commentary (Did the announcers just call their own MW champion boring numerous times BEFORE his main event title fight!?) + The schoolyard brawl at the end = A glorious disaster of a night for MMA. Thanks Strikefarce.

Before you start ____ talking and mud slinging bud, to be more accurate, you'd have to compare this to Spike TV's ratings for last night since they ran UFC 110.

ratings aside that brawl at the end was pretty ridiculous and immature. They are supposed to be professionals. That sorta stuff should never have happened.

And I watched both SpikeTV and CBS saturday night.... but I spent more time watching UFC 110 again.

I agree with that. Mayhem's a ****** though. But for the end fight, I'm still questioning how it played out. It's like Henderson all of a sudden stopped trying midway through rnd. 2. I was at the fight where Shamrock pretty much just handed his title to Cung. I'm beginning to wonder if their main events aren't fixed.

Are you kidding me? Yes it was wrong for him to interrupt Shields but was it okay for his ENTIRE crew to jump him??? BS.

And Hendo seemed to have either given up or gased. He was getting taken down like he had no wrestling ability.

Mayhem asked for it. He's an attention whore and frankly, got what he deserved. If he'd been more professional in the "confrontation," it wouldn't have exploded into what it did.

And that's what I mean. Dan just quit. Which is why I'm suspect. He wasn't huffing and puffing nearly as much to warrant being gassed. Nor did he really exert enough effort. Like the Shamrock vs. Lee fight, it's like they paid a marquee name to fall before a nobody for a status boost.

Um.. No. Just no.

You can't compare ratings on a network channel i.e. FREE with a cable channel i.e. NOT FREE. :duh

Strikeforce wasn't out to capture everybody so much as they were to nab the MMA fans. Hence, comparing how many watched Strikeforce's event to the free televising of UFC 110 on Spike would be a more accurate comparison. On that level alone, is a fairer comparison.

Going to bed early beat out SF for me.........thats how interesting that card was to me :lol But if I knew UFC 110 was on last night :banghead.........Nah, bed prolly still would have won. They just dont have any compelling or exciting fighters to me :dunno I really like Mayem on bullybeatdown, but I have no interest in watching him fight, Shields cant ever finish anybody, Hendo looks like hes lost a little bit, and Fedor fights like every 3 years.

He throw a few left punches in the 4th round that were so lazy that if they landed, Shields wouldnt have even felt it. Definitely fixed. Dan crushed him in the 1st and would have won but he was paid to lose.

And there is no excuse for an entire crew to jump one guy in MMA. 1 guy confronts him fine, 6 guys not cool. F' the Diaz brothers anyway.

Fedor is only on strikeforce so they can say "Look we have Fedor".

We'll see if Mayhem learned his lesson. We'll also see if Strikeforce learns theirs in how to handle confrontations like that. They should never have let that idiot in the cage to begin with. Now everybody will definitely want to tune in to see Shields vs. Miller, so maybe that was fixed too. :huh:lol

So Miller is already getting another shot after he got dominated by Shields in the fact that he couldnt even get his ass off the mat in that fight? Wow this org really blows :rotfl Thats even worse than Uriah getting a quick title shot after winning one fight, at least hes a proven winner, and its hard to bag on a guy from Sac :monkey3

1/2 correct.

2 parts you're totally ignoring:

1- mentioned above: free over the air channel versus cable channel.
2- Live MMA event versus a replay of an event from 2 months ago.

The numbers for UFC 110 on Spike last night should be way lower than the live Strikeforce card...but they won't be.

i wanna see SHIELDS vs JACARE. Two submission grappling experts, one is going to fail at what they do best.

Very interesting matchup.

I am also very interested to see the heavy-handed Paul Daley KO Koscheck. Daley has some of the best & most devastating hands in all of MMA. It's going to be interesting to see if he can keep it standing.

Didnt Brock go into the ring while Carwin was being interviewed?

Miller is fighting someone else not Shields. but he might have to fight unemployment if they decide to cut him.

First off Shields is strictly a grappler first then striker. Even when he had Dan mounted, he doesnt punch to KO the guy or even finish fights, he sticks to his true text book BJJ in the sense of punching to get the guy to move and create openings. Now why Dan wasnt doing anything is beyond me, but either way if Shields were to fight Jacare now your talking an expert grappler with much better striking than Jake.

Jasons next fight scheduled is to fight Robbie Lawler, if CBS even allows them to have another event on mainstream tv after that crazy debacle.

And again, NO. It's not. For numerous reasons.

1. Like I already stated, CBS is free. Spike TV is not.

2. CBS has a bigger viewing audience and is available in more homes yet they did absolutely terrible numbers last night (compared to the previous Strikeforce Event).

3. Strikeforce had a live MMA event on CBS. UFC 110 on Spike TV is a 2 month old event.

4. CBS/Sponsors don't care about a comparison between their ratings vs. cable ratings. If that were the case, no shows would get canceled from network tv because even the low rated shows on network tv get higher ratings than most cable/premium tv shows. Because as I stated above.. they have a bigger viewing audience (since they're free).

Try to spin it however you like but the fact remains: Strikeforce bombed badly last night in the ratings. That event was a disaster and a complete embarrassment (check out all the bad press they're getting).
