And the farce continues. :slap

Werdum is apparently having surgery on his arm (long standing injury) so Strikeforce is considering putting Fedor (who just lost in 69 seconds by submission) in a SF HW Title match with Overeem. That would be back-to-back title defenses for Overeem against guys coming off of a loss (Rogers lost to Fedor by TKO before he got his title shot). Pathetic.

That's what happens when your entire HW roster consists of 6 heavyweights.

Who should get the shot instead?
Silva? Arlovski?

Strikeforce, unlike the UFC, does not have a deep talent pool to draw from in case an injury(or a needed surgery) occurs.

After Overeem is done pummeling Ricco, a fight with Fedor makes the most $ense - especially if Werdum is having surgery.

Not sure why they don't just add Rodrigues to the roster, or even Monson.

Again.

Like I've said before, Strikeforce doesnt really know what they are doing. They try to copy how the UFC is runned and say they are different. All their divisions need fighters. they should have taken Kimbo. lol

This matchup was supposed to happened regardless if fedor won or loss (Coker said it in a video interviewer with Ariel) but it depended on if M-1 would allow him to fight. And when do they plan on fighting? And if Fedor loses, all hell will break loose. The fanboys will die.

I'd love to see Overeem smash Fedor, granted Fedor doesn't deserve the title shot though.

Last I heard that fight isn't happening.

I said before I think Fedor should fight Bigfoot Silva. Winner gets Overeem. That way at least the challenger is coming off a win. And then when Werdum is ready to go let him have an immediate title shot.

Makes more sense (and $ense :lol) than to have your champion in back-to-back title matches fighting guys who've just lost (Rogers and now Fedor) IMO.

Poor Overeem. Waiting to punch someone in the face. Strikeforce needs to get their head out of their ass.

Yeah.. since winning the Strikeforce title he's only had 1 fight in almost three years there.

That's not entirely Strikeforce's problem.

Overeem has always had trouble with fighting in the states. Because of drugs? Who knows...

Hell, just look at when he moved from LHW to HW; the disparity among his fights is ridiculous. He sometimes fought back to back months. Then would take six months off. Again, none of it was in the U.S. Is it because of the U.S. more strict drug testing? Maybe. Maybe not.

I don't doubt he used ped's in the past, but in a recent interview with TapOut, he stated how he wants to move to the states. Soon.

So maybe we will see him fighting more.

Overeems not fighting Ricco due to some kind of contractual situations.

As for him fighting Fedor...he needs to fight Werdum and Fedor needs to fight Big Foot. Then the winner of that fight gets the winner of the belt. So this way either way all bases are covered and if Fedor wins well then you get your Overeem vs Fedor fight for the Belt and if Werdum wins then theres our rematch and this time its for the belt...if Bigfoot were to beat Fedor then Bigfoot goes on and Fedor goes back to the drawing board.

Problem with that scenario is that Fedor only has 1 more fight left on his contract.

With Strikefarce wavering, think Fedor will have no choice but to go to the UFC after that fight?

I would think thats where his biggest payday would then be.

Probably, but Dana might tell him to F himself.

Does anyone think Fedor will reup his contract?

I'd think so. He made what, $400k for his loss and Werdum only made $100k for the win so I'd really think he's dumb if he didn't want to reup.

Dana would sign Fedor. Guaranteed.

Dana has broken his "word" numerous times. NUMEROUS times.

If Fedor's management quit acting like idiots, and the possibility were there, Dana would sign him in a second.

Actually it is. I talked about it in here already. Strikeforce put Overeem into a fight with Buentello for the newly created SF HW title but they never bothered to re-sign Overeem before that fight. So after he won and was their champion, he was a free agent. Overeem didn't re-sign with Strikeforce until a couple months before the Rogers fight. So that's on Strikeforce.

Problem with that scenario is that Fedor only has 1 more fight left on his contract.

Which is why it makes sense to me. Why let him fight for their title if he only has 1 fight left on his contract!? Give him Bigfoot Silva. See what happens. If he decides to leave after that fight who cares. SF should use his loss and the Werdum rematch as leverage to renegotiate with M-1 and Fedor.

That was in 2007. In 2008 in an interview with Dana White, and followed with an interview with Alistair, it was stated that he was UFC bound. Dana wanted him and he wanted to be there.

It never happened.

He was supposed to make his title defense against Rogers on the June 6th, 2009 Strikeforce card, but injured his hand in a nightclub brawl and would not fight until almost a year later.

From 2007-2009, you can blame it on Strikeforce. I'll lay the blame on Alistair, since, as a Free Agent, he HAD numerous opportunities to sign with the bigger org. but chose not to.
Instead, he chose to face such high caliber opponents as Tony Sylvester, James Thompson, and an 89 year old Gary Goodridge. Was he taking PED's? **** yes, IMO.

The last 12 months? You want to blame the hand injury Alistair received at a nightclub on Strikeforce? Really?
