Some other MMA stuff:

Hermes Franca lost again last night in Costa Rico to Ferrid Kheder (now 19-5-0). That's 5 straight losses in a row for Franca. It's been all down hill since he lost his LW title shot to Sherk AND got popped for roids.

And Aleksander Emelianenko lost by TKO (leg kicks) to Kickboxer Peter Graham (now 4-5-0 in MMA) last night in Russia. Snapped a 8 fight win streak Aleks had on the indy circuit.

Worth noting:

There's some controversy about the decision in the Franca/Kheder fight. I didn't watch it so I don't know what it pertains to though. Seen the Aleks/Graham fight and Aleks was heavier than normal. I read a few people say he was 20 lbs over his normal fight weight. It was also a special rules match that only allowed 30 secs on the ground before a stand up (since Graham's ground game is non-existent).

Yeah I watched the Aleks vs Graham fight...man Aleks looked terrible. I remember his striking used to be so good and he looked out of shape and obviously gassed. Just taking the full force of those leg kicks and being out of shape isnt the key to winning.
You could see as well that Graham looked amatuerish as well.

Ok I finally watched this fight. It was UFC/PRIDE rules (Elbows/Knees on the ground, Stomps, Soccer Kicks ALL legal).

Round 1
Franca landed more strikes, did more damage (sharp leg kicks) and got a trip takedown + some minor GnP to finish the round. Clear cut.

10 - 9 Franca


Round 2
Kheder landed more strikes, did more damage and got a knockdown from a nice leg kick in the middle of the round. In the guard, Franca reversed from the bottom and had Kheder's back for a while but he did absolutely nothing with it besides Gracie-heel kick Kheder's thigh. Clear cut.

10 - 9 Kheder


Round 3
Franca landing the same leg kicks as round 1, goes for a takedown and fails and ends up on his back. Kheder dives into his guard. Nothing significant happening.. Franca scrambles and it's getting sloppy. Kheder stands and lets Franca up as well. Franca finally gets a takedown and immediately takes Kheder's back. Kheder is trying to shake Franca but can't and is eating a lot of little punches from Franca. More annoying than damaging. And that's how the round goes/ends. Franca had Kheder's back and peppered him with little punches for a good 2 - 2 1/2 minutes of round 3. Again, pretty clear cut IMO.

10 - 9 Franca

So I have it 29 - 28 Franca.

Ok.. now it's officially FUBAR. The ref initially raises Franca's hand and the Dana White look-a-like holding the off brand belt these guys are fighting for heads towards Franca to award him the title. Then confusion. Then booing. Then Franca starts getting pissed. Then Kheder is declared the winner. Even the ref looks pissed and waves his hands in the air. Now people are throwing stuff. Franca's pissed. The crowd is pissed. lol.

From what I've been reading it seems like the fix was in by the promoter(s). Apparently ALL 3 JUDGES scored the bout for Franca. Even the Ref scored it for Franca which is why he refused to raise Kheder's hand when he was announced as the winner.

Franca's corner asked but never got to see the official scorecards (which is not the standard: Both corners have the right to view the official scorecards after a decision) but they apparently talked to all 3 judges and all 3 judges told Franca's corner they scored it as a unanimous decision win for Franca.

Fishy.

Yeah as for HT making MMA figures, wont happen. Theres not enough of a fan base for them espeically at HT prices. I mean look who posts in here...its like the same 5 people everday. No way someone who is a casual fan gonna drop 2 bills on a random MMA star.

As for Franca, thats some shady crap. I always thought Franca was a good fighter, not the greatest, but good none the less. I remember I met him at the Champps restaurant I go to where I watch the fights. I seen him sitting with a bunch of BJJ players and I happen to go to the can and he was in there and were taking a piss next to each other and I waited til we got to the sink and I started talking to him, lol. Great guy.

The fight between Franca and Kheder was overturned and ruled a NC because of all the controversy surrounding the bout.

Apparently the promoter (Lu Dwyer) also owns a company that sponsors Kheder, she has also had Kheder fight on 5 events she's promoted AND she's also business partners with Kheder's manager. Big time corruption.

Some websites have Duffe ranked as high as #35 HW in the world. Most have him ranked #50 or above.

Yeah, I just meant like if corruption spreads. The dollar can bring down the mightiest of Powerhouses from the inside. Even in that respect, boxing is nothing but corrupted but look everyone still tunes in for boxing.
