Kill or be Killed
Modern MMA has only been around since 1993. Trust me, in 10 years there will be a whole new crop of fighters in the running for that title and no one will even mention Anderson Silva or Jon Jones just like no one mentions Royce Gracie or Matt Hughes now.
Or Randy Coture or Chuck Liddell or Tito Ortiz or.......Yeah, there is always a new GOAT. If the sport survives and thrives you are so right, today's fighters will be yesterdays news.
Now I get what you guys are saying but I think Anderson and Jon will be mentioned because of what they did in the sport. Think about it, UFC debuted in 93. Royce brought something that no one had ever seen. Hes irrelevant now because his style was pure BJJ. Matt Hughes I wont even mention him just because hes a wrestler with some mediocre striking and handled Royce. Neither guy was really well rounded at all during there time. Id pick Matt over Royce again if it happened. Anderson and Jon are on another level and they have it all. So regardless there more relevant now than Royce or Matt ever will be.
Yes there will be a new crop of fighters that will be bigger and stronger, but even while the sport is evolving still, a punch is a punch as a kick is a kick. These 2 have raised the bar on what a "good" MMA fighter is. An awesome combination of ground/standup that will only be improved on by bigger faster fighters. Sure will there be better guys that come along yes but still to say they wont be mentioned Im not sure man. Again I get what your saying though because the sport does evolve so fast which is why we lost alot of fighters as well cause they just dont change there game up.
