Modern MMA has only been around since 1993. Trust me, in 10 years there will be a whole new crop of fighters in the running for that title and no one will even mention Anderson Silva or Jon Jones just like no one mentions Royce Gracie or Matt Hughes now.

Or Randy Coture or Chuck Liddell or Tito Ortiz or.......Yeah, there is always a new GOAT. If the sport survives and thrives you are so right, today's fighters will be yesterdays news.

Now I get what you guys are saying but I think Anderson and Jon will be mentioned because of what they did in the sport. Think about it, UFC debuted in 93. Royce brought something that no one had ever seen. Hes irrelevant now because his style was pure BJJ. Matt Hughes I wont even mention him just because hes a wrestler with some mediocre striking and handled Royce. Neither guy was really well rounded at all during there time. Id pick Matt over Royce again if it happened. Anderson and Jon are on another level and they have it all. So regardless there more relevant now than Royce or Matt ever will be.

Yes there will be a new crop of fighters that will be bigger and stronger, but even while the sport is evolving still, a punch is a punch as a kick is a kick. These 2 have raised the bar on what a "good" MMA fighter is. An awesome combination of ground/standup that will only be improved on by bigger faster fighters. Sure will there be better guys that come along yes but still to say they wont be mentioned Im not sure man. Again I get what your saying though because the sport does evolve so fast which is why we lost alot of fighters as well cause they just dont change there game up.

TMZ is reporting that Zuffa is gonna shut down Strikeforce sometime next year and that Rousey will be moving to the UFC as the first ever female fighter in that org.

Keep in mind this is all gossip so who knows. Take it with a grain of salt. :lol

Strikeforce has a January 12th show set up BTW.

SF LW TITLE: Melendez vs. Healy
SF WW TITLE: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine
SF MW TITLE: Rockhold vs. Larkin
Cormier vs. Staring

People would defn pay to see Ronda on ppv, so I don't see why not. The descent girl fighters can always fight undercard too. That would be the next step for expansion IMO, is to get more females involved in mma. I don't think the men are going to get any bigger or more athletic than they already are.

Damn!!

Good Gawd I can't stand Franklin. Was never a fan of his...least of all when he told Serra to take a knee for a head kick.

Yeah it was confirmed that there done after the January event.
Basically UFC picked up all the names basically. Even the womens division. Ronda, Cyborg, Miesha, Sarah Kaufman, liz carmouche.
Its going to be interesting to see these new fighters go up against UFC caliber fighters.

Some decent fights from China today.

I can believe it, Dana has been all over her.

Curious how that's gonna work since SF had semi-open contracts which allowed their fighters to compete in other promotions i.e. most of the women currently in SF also compete in Invicta FC for example.

Generally when they fold an org in they honor their fight numbers left on contracts, but I believe they have to compete under contract terms of Zuffa. So, technically they can be offered the fights, but I think people can still talk payday before crossing over. Not 100% sure on how that does exactly work out though, but theres quite a few fighters that I can't wait to see how they match up to UFC fighters.

Dana has said that Women MMA will be in the UFC.

Anderson Silva says he doesn't want to fight until the end of 2013. He's got alot of stuff going on Movies etc.

I thought this same thing. I think Dana knows Invicta is coming up where the other orginizations fell short for the women so before Invicta gets to strong I think Dana wanted to take them out of the game and not even give Invicta the time of day to try and snag Ronda or Miesha.

I was wondering when we'll even see a female fight in the UFC. I have a feeling hes going to sit them on the bench for a little while til they figure out how to market the women the right way in the UFC.
