because Cain beat the piss out of him their last fight.

And the fight they had before that JDS put Cain to sleep in the first round, a little over a minute in. Former champs always have a shorter road back to the title after their initial loss. If they lose that second shot (or even a fight before that i.e. if Cain would've lost to Bigfoot or if JDS would've lost to Hunt) THEN they lose their spot and the next person in line moves ahead.

But as it is, Werdum hasn't done anything to magically leap frog him ahead of JDS.

If he would've beat Overeem in SF he would've already fought for the title (the UFC offered Reem a title shot for his debut fight). But since he lost, he fell back a step. Overeem was next in line and got destroyed by Bigfoot who got the shot instead. JDS is next in line. Werdum is behind him now.

I don't favor rematches either (especially immediate rematches) but this one makes sense. They're 1-1 and both fights were one-sided victories with reasonable excuses as to why; Cain had a knee injury for the first fight and JDS literally got separated & divorced before/during the second fight.

I would think he's next behind JDS and Werdum if he continues to win. I hope Werdum fights the winner of Mir/Barnett and Nelson fights (assuming he beats Miocic) the winner of Overeem/Browne.

Have Hendricks and GSP made anything official yet? That fight needs to happen. Some of the press is getting curious about it and are conjecturing that GSP may be holding off on signing anything until he see's if Wiedman beats Silva..

Poor Pettis! :lol

Awful string of screw-ups prior to title matches for him. Doubt he gets Aldo now, who'll probably still want to fight the LW title holder if he beats KZ.

Yup. And The ref (Mazagatti) did absolutely NOTHING. Josh knew Fitch was out and let him go. If not for that Mazagatti probably would've let Fitch die in that choke. Dumb ***.

Holy ****, just watched it. Fitch's entire body went limp but the announcers Mazagatti didn't notice at all. I think it was the speed of the choke combined with the fact that we've seen alot of top guys try choking Fitch to no avail.

Good on Josh though. Fitch had just grabbed Josh's elbow @ 3:00 and @ 3:02 Josh rolled off, so he let go as soon as he felt Fitch go limp.

Yeah I can honestly say this was the first card in years that I didn't watch. I cant even remember the last time I missed a UFC. I didn't miss this one either, I just didn't choose to watch it. I only cared about Roy and Pat and both lost so no big deal.
