Very nice, we went to one that was local as well in Saint Charles MO. at the Family Arena, nothing big and just had a buddy that was in the matches as well.

We are also friends with Hughes, cuz my fiancee was friends with his wife and a group of girls they went to HS with. So I talk to Hughes here and there whenever we get invited to party in Ill. Silvia comes down there quite often as well.

Yikes! 10 minute first round.....he's going to die:

First, it was thorough domination at the hands of Vai Sikahema as part of a "celebrity" boxing match. But now, former home run slugger and steroid era poster boy Jose Canseco is not only making his MMA debut in Japan but is fighting a guy that is 7-feet tall.

Oh boy.

On May 26, Canseco will be battling Choi Hong Man in the first round of the Super Hulk Grand Prix tournament for DREAM - a Japanese MMA promotion that also airs on HDNet.

Hong Man is 7-2, weighs 330 pounds and is a former kickboxer with a 12-5 mark. He's fought a troupe of well-known guys including Bob Sapp, Sylvester Terkay, Akebono, Mighty Mo, Badr Hari and Bob Sapp.

The 28-year-old is 1-2 in MMA, fighting once a year every December and has losses to former PRIDE champion Mirko Cro Cop and heavyweight force/WAMMA Champ Fedor Emelianenko.

Canseco? Not exactly a professional fighter. This is going to get very ugly, very quickly for the 44-year-old who lost to the 5'9" Sikahema in the first round of their May '08 bout. The 6'4" 240-260 pounder then drew with Danny Bonaduce (of course!) in January, which apparently made him ready for a fight with a 7-foot kickboxer.

The fight is expected to be under the traditional DREAM rules with one 10-minute first round and a five-minute second round. Also in the tournament, the afore-mentioned Sapp vs. Minowaman, Rameau Sokoudjou (former UFC/PRIDE fighter) vs. Jan Nortje and Gegard Mousasi vs. Mark Hunt.

To see the blood-letting, tune to HDNet on May 29th.

i know he gets his butt kicked more than he should, but something about watching Bob Sapp makes me go :horror

And now Canseco's people are saying "Hold the F up!!!" :lol :lol

They're saying they were ASKED, but that they never agreed to it. So the match is iffy. Guess Canseco sobered up. If you can't beat Danny Bonaduce that's a problem!

It's a really good question if BJ can come back from talking all that ^^^^ and then getting his ass beat. Florian will win IMO unless the best BJ comes. To tell the truth i wasn't impressed with BJ against Sherk at all. He looked tired and ecspecially when he put Sherk away, after he was like hugging Big John just to stay on his feet.

BJ talks ^^^^, he's always been that way whether he wins or loses. I don't see his past ^^^^ talking and beat down as any reason to be interested if it will be a factor vs Florian. These are professionals, they are not weak minded people.

eh.. yes and no. B.J. has never talked that much ^^^^ and then gotten owned like in that GSP fight. Not to mention the whole aftermath of him causing a fuss and having his F'n MOMMY running to his rescue. I can't remember another loss that had THAT much drama for B.J.

Just because they're professional fighters doesn't mean they're always 100% mentally strong. They still suffer the same mental pitfalls as regular people. GSP couldn't get past fighting his idol (Hughes I) and lost. And in his rematch with Serra he wanted no part in a stand up fight, which shows that (T)KO he suffered in their first fight was still on his mind. Fighters might not publically convey it all the time (although a few have), but they all go through spells of self-doubt, fear, etc.

I'm interested in seeing how B.J. will bounce back.

Of course they are still human beings, but when this is your life and passion youre not going to let a past fight or past loss get in the way of your legacy. Im not saying ALL fighters are this way, but the ones who are usually don't last too long.

Your observations about the fighters you mentioned is purely speculation on your part. no one knows what goes on in their heads or if they are afraid, or if they are thinking about being knocked out like last time. Unless of course they say so in a pre/post fight interview whatever. For all you know, it could have been GSP's gameplan to not stand up because they want to exploit a weakness of Serra. It could go either way, but saying that GSP was afraid of serra's standup because of "last time" is all speculation.

True. But you have to admit, in the 2nd and 3rd fights with Hughes, GSP had no problem going to the ground with Hughes. Even though that's where he lost in the first fight (by armbar). Yet in the Serra fight GSP didn't want to stand up at all.

As far as being afraid, Royce Gracie has stated he's ALWAYS afraid for his safety going into a fight. And he's said that in his opinion, any fighter who ISN'T is either lying or stupid. So.. :lol

About BJ's mom, i think people are making too much out of the situation and using it for reason to make fun or laugh. Maybe it's a cultural thing but being from Hawaii, we have very strong sense of 'family'. Perhaps that is seen as funny or pathetic but to me and most people from Hawaii that is how we were brought up. And no i dont think BJ's mom was 'coming to his rescue' or fighting the battle for him...again, people are using her as a reason to further turn the situation on their side.

No. First off, (100% assumption here) unlike you I'm actually Polynesian. I'm half Samoan. My father was born in American Samoa. I was raised with the same ideal you're talking about (close knit family). It's called the Fa'a Samoa. The Samoan way. And that has absolutely nothing to do with dragging your mom/dad into LEGAL/JOB related problems. Sorry.

Now as far as my assumption about you, it's a VERY personal issue because it's offensive to me as a Polynesian. Perfect example is B.J. Penn. This guy is constantly talking about Hawaii and being Hawaiian.

PROBLEM: B.J. Penn is Korean and White.
Not Hawaiian.

Real Hawaiians descended from Tongan/Samoan settlers from The Marquesas Islands and Tahiti.

Where you live, and what your race is, is two completely different things. Yet people who live in Hawaii confuse this ALL THE TIME. I've had Filipinos, Whites, Chinese and Japanese people from Hawaii and even Indian people from Fiji try to tell ME that they were Polynesian just like ME.

HELL NO.

If you're Mexican, doesn't matter if you're born in China, if you're a Chinese citizen and even speak fluent mandarin, etc. Your race is still the same: Mexican. You don't magically transform into Chinese.

So.. if you're from Hawaii, let me ask YOU man..

What's your RACE?

Sorry for the rant.. :monkey3

Eh, i deleted my post because i figured it wasnt going to make anyone think any differently.

but since you responded, yes i know BJ Penn is not hawaiian in blood. Im also not hawaiian in blood, but we come from a small place when you consider the rest of the US and world. There's a bit of pride that goes along with coming from 'paradise' and a small island. We are cut off from the rest of the world so to speak, so claiming to be "Hawaiian" does not automatically mean that person is delusional and thinks they are a Polynesian genetically :lol. But more so that they are from the island in general and showing pride from being so.

Were you actually raised in Samoa or a Polynesian island? Perhaps you don't have an understanding of this if you were not brought up on an island or polynesian territory?

I think maybe you are taking it too personally, although if you indeed have had people tell you that they are of Polynesian blood just because they are from an island then they have some identity issues no doubt. Im japanese but born and raised in Hawaii, I consider myself more of a Hawaiian than an American because that is my roots, but i'd never claim that i had polynesian blood. We have our own set of values and a completely different lifestyle than the rest of the US and im sure you can understand or maybe even relate to that.

Who would you consider more Samoan? A Japanese guy born and raised in Samoa, or a Samoan guy born and raised in France? Where you live and grow up is most likely the cultural influences that will become a part of you regardless of RACE, do you not agree?

Trying to put it into words at 6am just isnt happening right now...but maybe you get my points or maybe you dont...?

And do you honestly seriously think that BJ Penn told his mom to go to court and speak for him? Come on man, let's look at it logically. She's obviously a strong willed woman judging from her persona and I think she was the one who wanted to go there and speak herself.

Yeah but BJ talked a lot of ^^^^ and didn't live up to any of it... He tried to get a freebie and that failed also, then he made up excuses. That will definetly affect his mindset and if you don't think it will then your terribly wrong. Every loss affects a fighter. I guess we will just have to see how it affects BJ, will it be good? Or will it be bad?

Good to hear. Thanks. Seriously.

No.. I disagree. In your example there's only ONE Samoan person: The Samoan guy born and raised in France. Again, race and where you come from are 2 different things. I know White/Spanish people born and raised in mostly Black neighborhoods. They act like everyone they grew up with, and their whole persona/demeanor has been influenced by that. But they're not magically Black now. They're still White/Spanish.

I've met straight up White ministers who lived in Samoa, speak the language fluently, and know ALL the customs. Doesn't change the fact that they're still White.

Trying to put it into words at 6am just isnt happening right now...but maybe you get my points or maybe you dont...?

No I get you. I can understand to a certain degree.. but since I never grew up on an island you're right, I can't KNOW 100% where you're coming from. But I feel you.

Actually he DID Nash. :lol B.J. asked his Mom to speak on his behalf to the commission because to my understanding she's a lawyer or has some type of law degree etc. The problem was, instead of speaking AS his lawyer.. she spoke AS his Mother.

SO back to MMA: Dana White said the UFC is working on signing a MW fighter that will "blow peoples minds".. any thoughts? I'm thinking "Old" Vitor. :lol

DW already said it's not Cung Le. Apparently Cung is liking movies (and I bet liking movie $$$ even more :lol) so word is Cung is trying to fulfill his Strikeforce contract (not sure how many fights he has left) so he can retire and start doing more films. Not sure how true that is though.

I don't think it's Lindland since he just got demolished. It's not Gegard Mousasi because he's already vacated his DREAM MW title to move up to LHW (with plans to maybe even go up to HW). It's not Robbie Lawler because he just signed a contract with Strikeforce.

I'm thinking it's either Vitor Belfort or Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza.

NASEDO, did you see the rumor started by Phil Baroni that the MW Dana White is talking about is none other than Ricardo Arona? Sounds crazy since Arona is a BIG LHW.

I agree with Le and Lindland being unlikely. I think you're right about Lawler just signing too.

I think Jacare is fighting Mayhem on a Dream card soon, but that might be the last fight on his contract.

You can find a lot of fight vids here:

https://www.mmascraps.com/

Lot of archived fights + they usually have new fights up the same night they happen or at the very latest, the next day.

Also I use this to watch live fights for free (DREAM, Sengoku, UFC, etc.)

https://www.channelsurfing.net/

Only downside is, when traffic gets heavy the feeds stall/shut down all together.

True. Then again, does DREAM even HAVE contracts!? I thought they did a lot of business with just handshakes etc.
Melvin Manhoef is another possibility as well. Maybe even Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal.
