Hur was kind enough to build me TESB Vader last year. It's mega-sweet! I have pre-ordered SSC ANH Vader. So I will display side by side. But I am not looking forward to SSC bill...

My vote goes to SS Vader. The figure looks very solid. When it comes out, we are going to see the war start again just like the stormtroopers Medicom vs.. SS... Thats going to be fun...

Not in size (nor bulk). Medicom and Sideshow use different scales - Medicom figures are generally shorter without modification. Even though they are both 12" or 1:6 scale figures Sideshow's will be taller than 12" (he towers over the stormtroopers in the recently released photo) and I think Medicom's is right about 12", but I can't remember as I don't have one. Most Medi Star Wars figures hit around 11" or so - can't remember exactly.

Depends on what you like, also, The medicom Maul IS IN SCALE WITH SIDESHOW FIGURES.
Darth Maul was played by Ray park. and don't beleive what you read about his height online. the guy is Short, I'm 5'11, and He's a little shorter than i am, my friend who is 6'1 went drinking with him at Dragon con, and was considerably taller than him. Ray Park is also a Very LITHE wirey guy. yes, he is muscled, but he has very VERY dense, tightly packed muscle mass. you want a Screen accurate Darth maul, put the sideshow costume on the medicom figure. His clothing was Very, VERY baggy, much like Japanese Hakama pants, designed to hide his every movement. I've got both the sidehow and medicom Darth maul figures, and Out of the two of them, i prefer the medicom maul, with sideshow's accessories.

I don't mind spending a bit more, but have the perfect darth vader (and maul for that matter) if I could get both the height, head sculpt, and the tailoring right.

I want to put the vader together with fett, maul, ST. So obviously getting a mixture of SS and medicom won't work. The height issue, I can live with, as long as it looks proportional with the other SW line. I'm more concerned bout the extra details, such as the removable helmets (which is very nice to have) and the tailoring and the armor details.

Medi Vader is roughly 12 inches, yes, HOWEVEr the sideshow one is closer to 14 inches.

If cost is no option, then my vote goes for getting a custom from hurricane. Yes, like ANY custom work, it will be expensive, but in the end, you will be much happier. also, if you consider waiting untill after sideshow releases their, Hurricane will have some better parts to use for his hands on vader, FURTHER improving how good his vaders look.

exactly. i keep telling people this, but no one seems to hear me. MAUL IS LITTLE!
Besides, he can do the unleashed maul pose
