Ultimate Blade Runner Collection on DVD!

I went to the Blade Runner panel. It was pretty good, but they didn't really talk about the DVDs. everything in this thread is more information than what was discussed at the panel. the showed a little preview trailer for the dvd set and showed the clip when joanna cassidy gets killed. she came back to do a couple of reshoots to replace the stuntwoman that they used originally. 25 years later!!

I really went to find out more about the ultimate set, but it was very cool to see Ridley Scott, James Wang and the guy who played Tyrell. Wang and Tyrell are hilarious!!!!!

I'm really sorry I missed this! I think if I had know about it, I would have made the trip to SDCC this year.

Unfortunately there's no release date set for EU, yet so I might think it will be the same as in the US. There's so little information about the availability of the Ultimate Blade Runner collection here. There's no advertising at all! I might go ahead and order from Amazon. Just to be sure.

Here's a picture of the Ultimate Set....I know I'm gonna buy it on the day it comes out on December 18! Everythig you see comes inside Rick Deckard's replica metal briefcase shown in the following picture at the top left corner closed with the Blade Runner logo in red on the front. The briefcase is also shown opened on the top right side of the picture. I'm a HUGE Blade Runner fan! It's one of my favorite movies! Needless to say Harrison Ford is my favorite actor! He's in three of my top favorite movies: Star Wars, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, and Blade Runner!

Here's a picture of the front and the back of the awesome official mini movie poster for Blade Runner: The Final Cut by artist Drew Struzan. I got one from eBay. It is about 14" x 20". Very nice hard cardboard stock poster. Check it out!

Glad I could help out guys! I'm still "on the fence" abou the new next-generation DVDs. I have the XBox 360, so I could get the external HD-DVD drive for about $180.00. But I've also heard in reports about Blu-Ray DVDs that they have much more storage space that HD-DVDs do. What have you guys heard? I know we're in the middle of a war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. But it may take a while for a clear winner to come out on top. I recall the old days of the battle between Beta tape, and VHS tape! I remember that Beta had a much better picture, but there wasn't too many movies out on Beta compared to VHS. So, Beta ended up losing that war!

Beta lost because porn decided to adopt VHS instead.

As for HD vs Bluray, the way I see it, this war is far from over, so I figured it would be ok to pick one format for now, and then adopt whatever wins in the future. I went with HD because the players were so cheap, and there is a pretty good selection out right now.

The HD add on for the 360 is a great price, but just know that you will not be able to get true HD sound with the add on as it is not available.

The cheapest HD player on the market which does offer true HD sound is the Toshiba HD A2 player, which goes for $250.

If Bluray ends up winning, I'm sure by then the price of players will be quite low, and I'll get a Bluray player as well. Whatever happens, I won't be wasting my HD DVDs as I'll still have the player to watch them!!

That's a good way to look at the new DVDs Rienhardt. I will look into that Toshiba HD DVD player. I will probably get that one first myself, and then watch as the war between HD DVD and Blu Ray unfolds. Yeah, I agree that it may take a while for this war to decide a clear winner.

That's odd, I thought Scott was doing another "ultimate" cut of the film...
Still, I'm sooooo getting this!

BTW, I do ike the theatrical cut. I kinda like Deckard's voice over, gives him a little more depth.

I've had the standard DVD set on order from day one at Amazon, but I'm thinking it is time to start getting the HD versions as long as they have the standard as well... I plan to get an HD player in the near future.

Question for other diehard fans out there. I have several BR books with a couple of them essay anthologies about this and that philosophical insight on the world of BR. I haven't read through all of these, but have skimmed them for an answer to this nagging question: If Batty as a combat replicant is a veteran of stellar conflicts (" ...attack ships off the shoulder of Orion... "), who were they actually fighting? Extraterrestrials? Extensions of Earth-bound conflicts between the superpowers? Off world in-fighting between the colonials? On ETs, there seems to be no alien presence or acknowledgement of it (like Alien Nation) in the future society depicted in BR.

the HD version will NOT be a combo disc with DVD on one side and HD on the other. I specifically asked this question as well.
