Which box-set? If your looking for the brifcase version i don't think it's relased in the EU, just the US. EU will get the regular 5-disc digipack. So you'll have to import it... like me:D I think i will get mine saturday or thursday from amazon.com:chew

Thanks for the heads up. I was not aware of that. I'll have to go though Amazon too then..

I got my Blu-ray 5-disc set today, and it looks fantastic. I passed on the super-deluxe version even though it looked cool since I generally just look at the extra goodies once and then put them away forever. I'd rather put the money toward, oh, I don't know... A Blade Runner blaster? :D

Hey, icruise. Where did you get that awesome looking Rick Deckard Blade Runner blaster pistol? I want one! Please let me know! I'm a HUGE fan of Blade Runner and Harrison Ford. Thanks! :D

Yep, I'm a big fan of both myself. I went totally nuts this year and got a Blade Runner blaster, Han Solo Blaster, and studio scale Millennium Falcon. It's a Harrison Ford Christmas!

Anyway, I got the blaster on ebay from this seller. At $200 shipped, I frankly think it's a little overpriced, although it's probably the cheapest Blade Runner blaster you're likely to find. It has more plastic in its construction than I expected and it's not licensed or anything, but it is pretty cool. It's got a nice heft to it. The red LEDs light up, and the part where you put the bullets in folds open like a real gun. I also ordered these dummy shells but they haven't arrived yet. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about displaying it. I can get a case made, but the hard part is making the gun stand up in it.

The Coyle blasters are better quality, but the metal ones are a lot more expensive and kind of hard to find, so I decided to compromise and get this one. I'm relatively happy with it.

You can. I'm saving alot of money on a more bad ass version then i would if i bought the regular here in denmark. I buy most DVD's and especially box-set's from the US because they're bigger, better and cheaper then in the EU.

The same with CD's:D

Thanks for the information and the link icruise. I'll check it out! I'll probably have to save up for the pistol and get it later on sometime next year. Thanks again. :D

I've been looking to get one of those guns for myself.

And I'm still waiting for my DVD box set to show up. :tap

Can someone that owns the US briefcase version please let me in on the details regarding language + audio and undertitles + please?

It will be cheaper to get the briefcase version from Amazon. But I never ordered from Amazon before. I' think there are no import fees to be paid when ordering DVD's from the US, but I'm not sure. Does any EU freak has experience with that? Thanks.

I haven't watched this move in LONG time. I picked up the 5 disc set on BD yesterday and I didn't realize there were so many cuts of the film on here.

So, for those no casual fans, by that I mean Blade Runner freaks, in what order do you recommend I watch these?

Should I start with the new "final cut" and move backwards or start with the original US theatrical release?

Can you guys give me opinions of the different versions and how they stack up against each other?

Thanks.

I've only seen the theatrical release and director's cut, but the director's cut is far superior in my opinion. The main difference is that the director's cut doesn't have the narration by Harrison Ford that was added after audiences were apparently confused by initial screenings. It's not that well done and seems a little forced. The endings are also subtly but significantly different.

I going to start with the workprint on disc 5 first which ive read alot about in various books and want to see what all the fuss about how diffirent it is from the theatrcal cut.
Then 1982 U.S, 1982 International, i'll miss out the 1992 director, watched that a few times already.
And then i hope im leaving the best to last with The Final Cut and then again with the director commentry.

I think you will have to pay cusoms but it depends on what the price limit is in your country. I don't pay customs on anything priced at $25 or less. I sugest checking with your local postal service and ask them about custom fee's.

Goes to show that tastes vary a lot. At this point, I feel there is nothing above the Theatrical release for very obvious reasons. But that is my opinion of course. I'm curious if any of the versions I haven't seen yet will make me change my mind. But the most important point for me is that Deckard is not a replicant, like the brainless director's cut sugests.

Yeah, he's only the director. What could he possibly know about the film? But anyway I think the director's cut doesn't hit you over the head with that implication, so you can choose to believe whatever you like.

Icruise, you are free to follow the directors vision if you like. Luckily there where a few people that saw it a little different than Scott, right from the beginning, hence the theatrical version. Thanks for that. To me, the entire story doesn't make much sense if Deckard is a replicant himself. And although I know that book and film are two different things, I have the tendency to follow the vision of Philip K. Dick in this matter. It's his story after all. And again, just so it's clear: this is my opinion. Oh,and .

Merry Christmas.

After watching the awesome new documentary, "Dangerous Days" in the new set, come to find out that the narration "voice-over" was done by Harrison Ford very late in post-production. It was not supervised by director Ridley Scott, and Scott wasn't there when Ford recorded it. Harrison was not happy wih the fact he had to "tell" the audience what was going on in the story rather than have them discover the story for themselves as it unfolded in the movie. Therefore he really didn't give an inspired reading of the narration. He hated it. Ridley Scott hated it. The narration was a suggestion of producers that felt it would better explain the movie to confused audiences. I guess it's all a matter of opinion. I prefer the version without the narration. I watched Ridley Scott's "final cut" of the DVD last night. It was great. I watched it with his audio commentary turned on. There was no narration "voice-over" by Ford in Scott's final cut. He admits that his "final cut" is the shortest version of all of the different versions of the movie.

I got mine today! The packaging is great! JediMike pretty much covered how cool this thing is. I also like how "Voight-Kampff" is stamped on the case.

Now I just need to find time to watch everything.

That making-of documentary was great--three and a half hours, but worth the time it took to watch it.

I thought it was funny that in the original novel, Deckard was going after the replicants so that he could earn some money to buy his wife an android sheep.

I hadn't seen any version of the movie in a few years, and I watched all of the documentaries first. That had me really primed to watch and enjoy the Final Cut. (Add me to the list of people who don't like the voiceover in the theatrical version.)
