1) You clearly don't know who your talking to if you think im not a gamer. Pretty sure the name/sig and avatar prove that I am.

2) To say a movie is only for fans and gamers is one of the stupidest things ive heard in a while, especially since I work in the industry. Thats like saying only people who liked Batman before hand should of been able to see BB or TDK. If people could only see a movie if they were a fan first of something that was a pre cursor (book,game,board game,comics etc) then many many franchises would have not of been successful - Resident Evil, Harry Potter, LOTR, Any superhero movie, I could go on.. but I wont.

Your logic is also wrong because like me and countless other that don't have PS3 but are still capable of liking the film. Never played silent hill (more of a resident evil guy) but enjoyed that. Maybe its better that I haven't from what you say.

Anyhoo...Ill see it and enjoy it cause frankly I watch films for story and production design. Not the actors who are in them.

Most all comicbook and videogame movies are fan services, sure others can enjoy them..but the main install fan base and target audience is the people that made it so popular in the first place..in this case it's the gamers. And not saying people can become fans of something after seeing a movie, but for the most part...this is a movie for the fans. But with the casting of Walhberg, the mentioned DeNiro and Pesci, I doubt it.

Anyway your logic failed. My single point was that you can't fully see the miscasting of Walhberg if you have never even played and enjoyed the games.

Nothing I can add that hasn't already been said.. I love Mark Whalberg as an actor but hes NOT right for this role.
Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but he tends to play the "hard" guy and while Drake isn't soft, he DOES have a soft side.

I'll watch it but I'm not looking forward to it. :/

Well you did say the movie was for fans and gamers, keyword being *gamers* which I am, and at the time it seemed like that was your argument as to why I was wrong(because I had only seen screen shots)....but anyway.

I completely understand what you are saying, but what your failing to see is all for me the inability of seeing the miscast in Walhberg (whom I like anyway) is not going to effect the movie for me because all I want to see is the world I've seen in the screen shots which looks really cool to me regardless of not having played the game.

Its cool man we can disagree. We clearly see and want different things out of watching movies (which I would expect).

People cried foul over Tom Hanks playing Langdon in the Da Vinci Code, and I didn't see why...I thought that was a good role for him and I enjoyed the movie(s). If I had read the book sure I could have been in the same boat you are if I cared.

The lesson to be learned here is do not read and do not be a fan of anything

Oh and remember MANY people thought Ledger was a miscast before they saw his portal of Joker.

I would surely hate for you to end up liking the movie, after you've already sworn you hate it just because of a casting choice.

The choice of big name actors like Wahlberg, DeNiro, Pesci and Pacino over lesser known names like Fillion suggests that this is not a film for the fans and gamers. Fans of the series don't need to see big names on the posters, or familiar faces in the trailers to get excited about the film, they just need to see the characters they love from the games brought to life.

Unfortunately both Hollywood and the games industry are becoming increasingly afraid to take risks, only looking at the bottom line of how to make as much money as easily as possible. Chucking big name actors into a film is the easiest way of guaranteeing that it will be at least moderately successful at the box office.

What's this film about? dunno... but it's got Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in it so it must be good!

Eric Bana would have got my pick for the role.
He was a stand-up, so he can do the comedy side of the character, plus he has the right look for Drake
Plus he would not need shoe lifts

Lol..yes. I agree this movie is going to be something most people are like "I think I want to see that new Al Pacino movie that has Marky Mark and Joe Pesci in it." Unfortunately, these high profile actors are probably absorbing a lot of the budget with their required salary. Which gets me thinking again whey exactly they aren't considering Fillion even more. Nothing against him as he's one of my favorite actors, but he isn't as well known as the big 3 that are cast already.

First, I love Mark W. and most of his movies. The problem is this guy can only act in one particular way. I've never seen him pull a 180 and act like a totally different character. Gary Oldman for example, that guy has a bunch of tricks in his bags and most of the time I don't even recognize him since he's so opposite from parts that he had played in the past. Given the case, I don't remember playing Uncharted 1 and 2 thinking that Mark W. would make a good actor to portray him in the big screen. I might be wrong but that's my 2 cents.

Looks like David O' Russell's concept of the story is already deviating heavily from the games:

'The Uncharted Movie Doesn't Sound Like Uncharted At All'

Set aside your concerns about Mark Wahlberg portraying PlayStation 3 action hero Nathan Drake in the big screen adaptation of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, because it doesn't sound like this movie is based on the video game at all.

Uncharted director David O. Russell tells the LA Times that he sees Nathan Drake and his extended family as some sort of global antiquities squad that dispenses treasure-hunting justice. This must be the concept that Mr. Wahlberg described as "so off the charts."

"This idea really turns me on that there's a family that's a force to be reckoned with in the world of international art and antiquities ... [a family] that deals with heads of state and heads of museums and metes out justice," Russell said, which actually sounds more like Indiana Jones' motivation.

That family may include Wahlberg's potential co-stars Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, transforming this Nathan Drake adventure into a film that could be easily titled Uncharted: Antiquity Mafia.

Wow.

Call the main character something other than Nathan Drake and they could easily avoid calling this Uncharted. Why "base" it off the game if they are going to deviate from the source material completely?

How disappointing...

Exactly, this is Uncharted only in name. It will be just as bad as the new SF movie...which was even worse than the cheesy 90s version.
