Yep, seen Outpost. I really liked it. Ever seen the Bunker it was very similar to Outpost. I dont have Outpost though, I d like to add that to the collection. I gotta hit up blockbuster to get on that deal. I love cheap horror man.

Me too! :D Gives me more money to chase down the absurdly expensive Amazon/Borders must-haves.

I'll have to look into Bunker. If you're into oldschool 70's stuff, there was a cool one called The Sentinel.

For the record, NONE of the torture films discussed recently in this thread have anyone remotely resembling that description in them.

Geez...

Yes, I was referring to the mainstream torture porn. That sounds like a good band name actually....

p.s. Does Motel Hell qualify as underrated?

I loved Motel Hell and had a copy on VHS back in the day. I think that is the first movie where I saw someone wear a pig's head.

I was also going to bring up Shock Waves. I keep a DVD copy because its good one to break out on occassion.

A few more underrated selections to try if you haven't already. A few of these have been briefly mentioned.

Dead Ringers
Prophecy (1979)
Stuck
Fallen
Session 9
Night Flier
Night Breed

Honorable Mention:
Gargoyles (campy now, but scared the crap out of me as a kid)

I actually have Motel Hell on double disc with Deranged. Session 9 is good and I do agree I think its underrated.

Prophecy...is that the one with the mutant grizzly bear...if so A+ my friend, that movie is so awesome. I remember when i was a kid and seen that it freaked me the hell out...if that is indeed the right Prophecy.

Yep, its the mutant grizzly bear movie. I saw a stand-up for it in a theater while seeing something else and it looked spooky. A few years later, I finally saw it on cable TV and it freaked me out. The very ending can get you if you don't know its coming.

I Sell the Dead: awesome funny blend of many sub-genres. And I don't like funny, but what's not to like about Dominic Monaghan and Ron Perlman?

Hmm i seen I sell the Dead on netflix and wondered about it. I'll have to add it to my list and give it a watch.

Bought it but still have yet to watch it. Bought it the same day I bought Zombies of Mass Destruction and watched that instead... :monkey1. Right now I'm watching Never Sleep Again. I'll have to make it a point to give that a viewing sometime this week.

I just watched this over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Good story and pretty funny at times.

Well I just got around to reading the comic version which had been sitting in my stacks since late last year, and was reminded of it. Damn anatomy courses keeping me from the fun stuff.

About ZofMD, I heard it was terrible, but what is your take nam?

That's an understatement. :monkey4:monkey4:monkey4

Thank you, I will steer clear of it. I'm kind of getting burnt out on all the horrible horror I have to wade through to get to the few gems out there. But to be honest, once you find that gem, it is quite awesome, and often great for multiple viewings.

Hence why Romero's Dead flicks and the remakes (save DotD :monkey1) have been recirculating through my BR player to fill the insomnia.

Funny, those are the exact films I was referring to as gems, especially Day of the Dead lately. Just trying to find new gems.

I saw Ils (THEM) last night. Underrated or overrated? Hard for me to say. It was most interesting because it is a true story. It actually made major news reports in the US at the time, but was quickly forgotten. It kept my attention and worked well at maintaining suspense, but all the while I kept thinking it wouldn't be quite as effective for a US audience for reasons I will put in a spoiler bracket. Also, once I found out more about the ones causing terror, I was not real impressed (possibly my own naivete). Again, I will tag in a spoiler bracket. Still, I can't make the call on how well it is rated in the media. I liked it but not enough to add it to the library...

Why not as scary in USA?
Because in America, many of us have guns in the home and can defend against the antagonists in this film rather easily IMO

Who are antagonists?
a bunch of bored kids
