Don't you want them to fix the base EP3 helmet sculpt (as well as the visor area) before they embark on Cody?? Because they will likely start with the very same one. That's my main worry now. I can live with an inaccurate Utapau dude. But if they're ALL like that? That's another kettle of fish entirely.

I was partly joking just trying to add a little light laughter into the thread, though I do very much want Cody.

I'm all for improvements, but the off things you guys have found really wouldn't have caught my eye probably if they hadn't been pointed out. There's things not right, but the overall aesthetic is right to a point where at a casual glance it is the ROTS style trooper helmet.

They'll have to do a new helmet for Cody anyways.. It's not all just stuff added on.

The black on the chin is grooved in. And the area in the middle is totally different. Among other things.

But, yes, please make it more accurate.

Boy,they deleted that one in heart beat Krayt.

They didn't.

I did.:monkey3

But, back on topic-- Let's hope that the minor (and I stress) minor discrepancy gets fixed... Agreed that for the price point these figs are selling for they should be as accurate as possible to the source material... But nothing is ever perfect.

Agreed. Let's try to fix it best we can.

Boy, I'm glad you guys are seeing the problem now. I was beginning to wonder if it was just me being too picky and critical. I usually keep my opinions to myself in the prototype phase thinking that things I usually see will either be corrected prior to production or not as noticable once in-hand, but I immediately noticed the helmet issue when the preview pic was posted. I initally thought it was just a minor issue, but the more I looked at it and realized that this helmet would probably be used for future clones, it became more major in my opinion. I had hoped the preview pic was just a bad angle, but once all the prototype pics were posted, I realized it was definitely a sculpt problem. I wish I was one of you guys who never noticed it to begin with. In a perfect world, I'd love for it to be corrected prior to production of the Utapau, but if not, I hope it's corrected for any future clones utilizing the same mold.

Thanks Shatterer for chiming in on this issue throughout the day. It's nice to know that you guys at Sideshow actually acknowledge the people who are buying your work here on the boards and in your words, "feed on our complaints". I agree that we need to be a little more helpful in any critiques rather than being plain critical and rude; however, I hope you guys take the good with the bad and also read the compliments on your work as well. You guys just keep up the good work by cranking out great figures!:bow

The thing is, I don't even follow the prequels. I only watched each of them once at the theater. I have only casually seen the trooper design on posters and boxes at stores. But I still immediately knew there were multiple problems with the bottom half of the helmet. These aren't things that need to be analyzed to be seen with the naked eye. Does Sideshow wonder why the exclusive edition still hasn't sold out? For a mass produced item that costs over $100 (with tax / shipping) and will be reproduced in the tens of thousands with future figures, this attention to detail is not nitpicking.

What is more perplexing is, I thought the armor (for stormtrooper and Vader) was designed on the computer and not by hand. Couldn't LFL send Sideshow a dxf or equivalent file of the helmet since they existed only in the digital form anyway?

Are Gentle Giant busts around 1/6 scale? Do they make these using original files because the proportions look fantastic.

Got my Kenobi today... and really makes me excited for more armored figures. I can see the issues you guys are talking about with the helmet. It will be cool if its fixed, but honestly I'll live if it isn't.

The thing is we've seen other companies do Clones now and with great success. Always asked Sideshow, "when are you doing armored characters?". They always said "we're working on it". I presumed they were working on a new body to use the armor on. The design of the clones has been there for like what, 4 years since we first saw the helmet design used for ROTS? I believed that when they finally did unleash their armored characters, they would have had more than enough time to get things right like say, the shape and details of the helmet.
With Medicom doing armored clones for a while now, I thought Sideshow would make sure every little detail would be perfect to show us "Hey, thanks for being patient, take this Medicom!" and dazzle us with film accuracy at a great price.
I really don't want to sound overly critical, as I plan on keeping my exclusive, but with this much anticipation built up, things like getting the shape of the bottom of the helmet wrong seem really disappointing.
