Here's another compare -- its the shape of those "aerators" that I really see, basically the shape of the whole "chin" area.

But I'm very excited to hear that things may change from this prototype. I do hope so.

If it is, can we not send it to LFL for approval? Can we just sneak it? They'll never know. :)

So what is the purpose of LFL dictating to these licsensee's that they're product should have inaccurate variations?? What is the point?

LFL has weird ideas about how things should be sometimes. Andy B. made a beautiful portrait of SLJ as Mace Windu, and then LFL had him retool it to have a more intense expression and the result looked less like SLJ than the original sculpt which was fantastic.

Probably so they can always sell the license to someone else with the promise of a new, totally accurate something...

Everything they issue has a little something off or missing. Just like their DVDs. It's all about the next sale.

This is more common than you think - sometimes they don't want accurate but they want the essence of the character, this is what happens with Leia as well.

Yeah but that sounds like some marketing tactic to make the product somewhat imperfect so that the next guy in line can make it slightly better, hence making them more money.

Exactly my point above.

Oh sorry didn't see that. But that is what I have always thought. They can't just make every collectible dead on perfect every time.Because then no one would buy the next thing if they we're already satisfied with the first.Far less money for LFL.

I think this is simply a matter of the sculpt being a little off and LFL not catching it when it was submitted.

I really do believe this to be true.

It may not be Lucas, but the guys who run the day-to-day... and in business, this is an excellent model for a "demand" that never seems to die.

Enough about innaccurracies with Utapau Trooper, where's Cody :tap

Don't you want them to fix the base EP3 helmet sculpt (as well as the visor area) before they embark on Cody?? Because they will likely start with the very same one. That's my main worry now. I can live with an inaccurate Utapau dude. But if they're ALL like that? That's another kettle of fish entirely.

Which is a shame because I didn't even think their choice for Mace's "essence" was right, what they wanted for him was far too aggressive, Andy's first sculpt captured his essesnce.

I'm sure you can't divulge much Shatterer, but what sorts of people does SSC deal with from LFL, are they like guys appointed to run marketing departments that don't necessarily know all the ins and out of the properties or does the approval process run through folks that know that material they're dictating orders about?

Wow...:horror A mature-- "intelligent"-- respectful-- conversation for several pages. Colour me impressed.

Oh, and I'm 100% in agreement with MF's statement below...:D

And I will quote myself in response...
