That is awesome are they specifically made for comic books?

Yes. Comics and mags.... Though Nam did ask me if the glass is UV resistant or not. I would say it isn't so I'm having second thoughts, even though my collecting room is pretty damn dark.

Yeah, I do like those comic book frames as well...

Could you put a CGC book in there? The only thing I could think of hanging would be my GI Joe #1...

Nah, not a chance. It's pretty tight with one standard comic. I was thinking of hanging a ASM Annual #1 but the comic itself is too thick.

Less of a downer than finding severely sun damaged comics in a year :lol I paid $5 to devalue my comics by $100s :lol

Pretty much exactly what I told him. I wouldn't even want to cheapen the display with WalMart tint either. Years ago I saw display cases at WonderCon that blocked 99% of UV rays but they weren't for sale to the public and they were trying to get retailers to place orders. Unfortunately this was about a year before the economy tanked and their website's gone the way of the dodo. :(

I have a windowless basement, so they would work for me.

No Deak! Only one... house is burning, children and photo albums are safe.

What do you grab and which 4 do you let burn :devil :devil :devil

One? I can't, let it burn. Or maybe Yak Face. But if I can snag Yak Face then I can snag all of the Kenner figures. ALL OF THEM!

No doubt! And honestly, this isn't a downer at all. I have the receipt and the books will just go back into their box. Very happy Nam made me think twice about it.

Those would be a fantastic niche item for comic collectors. It's a shame they tanked.

Very cool Jim! :rock I have three windows in my collecting room and though the blinds are always pulled tight there's enough ambient light mid day for me to reconsider.... If you end up buying some and hanging them then take a few pics. I'd love to see how they display...

It's real shame that a product like the one Nam mentioned hasn't been made... Think of all the great comics that people have just sitting in boxes when they could be displayed for everyone to enjoy.:(

It's gotta be this one for me.

That's not yours is it Dave?

That's a grail for me as well... I have great memories of Godzilla and the Shogun Warriors I had a kid.

So I went by a local Michael's the other day and they had these comic book frames on sale for 4.99 ea. so I picked up a couple. Here's two I framed last night (sorry about the crappy photo):

Not bad... I might hang these and a few others in my collection room.

I also took a couple quick pics of my loose SW vintage collection, which seems to be growing by the day.

I'm getting pretty close to the half way mark, though most of the figures I incorporated from my remaining childhood pieces no longer seem to be of a high enough quality, condition wise.... Sensor-scope R2 and Farmboy Luke both come to mind....

Awesome Flo, a real classy collection! :rock

:monkey2 Yeah. Surprised all the comic stores there didn't have a vision beyond the recession. They'd be making a pretty penny right now.

I will see if I can grab a few this friday.

I would like to get my Final Fantasy 15 in there. It's beat to crap, but it's mine.

You mean Amazing, right?

That's always been a grail of mine... I almost bought one for $1200 about ten years ago at Wondercon... It was also beat to hell, so I passed. :( The price seemed a little too much for the ragged condition of the book.

I've seen some amazing custom ones designed to fit all of the figures. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could convert a standard shadow box to accommodate figures? Like how I could make shelves etc?

Might actually be cheaper to build some with oak frames and balsa wood shelves. That'd also allow you to make bigger spots for specific action figures.

I think Coco could rock the hell out of something like that. But man, getting it shipped (even in pieces) would be a nightmare.
