I always thought walkaround Buzz was one of the worst character likenesses.

He always looks angry / Asian.

Most of the pixar characters look awful in character form. Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Mr. Incredible... i dunno what it is about them either. They were made in 3dimensions, they couldn't fashion a rubber head that was closer on-model?

Bug's Life, Monsters Inc, Cars, Ratatouille, all look pretty good.

Yeah Pixar is definitely hit or miss. But on the plus side, the ABL characters are some of the more impressive costuming I've seen.

Here's the awful Mr. Incredible..

Thanks Agent0028! And I'd definitely say enjoy your time without kids while you can. Before you know it you'll be lugging a stroller onto shuttles and having to trade off rides with the missus until they're big enough to do all the rides. ;)

More, more, more!! Looks fun!

It was but I agree with you guys about Buzz. I actually wondered if his "sinister" expression would go over well with my daughter but she loved them both.

Some more:

I fully intend to drop the kids off at Grandma's and hit up the parks. :lol Is that wrong?

It's summer, we frequent visitors are avoiding the parks like the plague. :lol Well at least I am. I met a friend to go see a movie at DTD on Friday and there place was packed. Just finding a parking spot was nearly impossible.

You mean Disneyland or Disney World?

This weekend was the absolute best time to go! People avoid it like the plague, tons of people are blocked out (including cast members), the place was so awesome today!

California Screamin: 10 minute wait
Little Mermaid: 5 minute wait
Star Tours: 40 minute wait

And this is all in the middle of the afternoon!

I may just go back to finish the night off! Oh and... this was a highlight circling the skies:

I meant Disney World. I haven't checked to be certain, but I'd be surprised if Magic Kingdom hasn't been filling to capacity the last few days.

Disney World definitely will. It's a different demographic where tourists rule and locals stay clear.

Disneyland is the opposite.

So I never made it back to the parks though I really wanted to. It's rare to enjoy a nice half-empty resort. Here's a few photos I took though I wish I took more.

Over in California Adventure, the Recreational Challenge Trail used to be home to the Brother Bear characters. Now it has got a minor face lift with added signage. It's now the Recreational Challenge Trail and Wilderness Explorers Camp.

You guessed it.. .Russell is all over this place.

I didn't take pics but Russell has put up signs throughout the area to look for animal tracks. You can also meet Russell and Dug walk around characters here.

I just met you and I love you!

And of course I visit Star Tours again

They also debut Goofy's Sky School (repaint of Mulholland Madness aka Mad Mouse Coaster similar to Primeval Whirl but without the spinning) and two new restaurants in the Paradise Pier area this weekend. Both are really great food experiences with live music. The ride is the same as it ever was but with a goofy overlay.

Hope everyone had a good 4th! Here's the only photo of my fireworks coverage from Disneyland last night that I liked.

And some Haunted Mansion just for fun...

What is Disney's fireworks show like for the fourth? I'd love to see it sometime, but I doubt I'll battle the crowds to do so.

Maybe it's better if I just show ya?

First, here's how Disney California Adventure celebrated 4th of July (all weekend actually) with their special World of Color Pre-Show. It's 4 and a half minutes long. This doesn't ruin the actual show if you never seen it so watch away. This show played twice a night.

Immediately following the World of Color, people could (if they wanted to, but probably didn't) run across the street to Disneyland to catch the 9:35pm Fireworks display. This video was taken from the middle of Main Street USA, which actually provides a clerer view of the fireworks than being right in front.

Here's Magic Kingdom's fireworks for 4th of July, which is definitely bigger (as it should be). It's also 4 minutes longer but shares much of the same music that Disneyland does.

One thing I didn't like about the video is that Main Street lights don't shut off.

Yesterday was Disneyland's 56th birthday and at 2:30pm, they gathered everyone at Town Square for a quick birthday sing-along. Walt's opening day speech was played for all to hear.
