I still don't get what it is. Can someone elaborate?

The cover of Joy Divison's "Unknown Pleasures" album:

In case you're not too familiar, this is an incredibly odd thing for Disney to pay tribute to, because:

1) Their music was morose at best
2) The band's name comes from a Nazi prostitution wing of a concentration camp
3) Ian Curtis, their singer, hung himself at the age of 23
4) I could go on, but that should suffice

Wow, I'm not familiar but sounds dark. What made Disney get on board and do it?

That's the big question. Joy Division was around for an incredibly brief period of time, and the rest of the band, without Ian Curtis, went on to form New Order. But JD was and still is very influential in music, and has a very loyal fan base. I can just assume that someone in Disney's design team is a big fan.

Really, I would have thought someone just designed it and didn't say its inspiration, and that's how it slipped through. But the fact that the shirt's page describes it as inspired by the album art... strange.

I am going in April with my two daughters and the Truman Marching Band. They are marching in the day parade and the Electric Light parade.
Also they are playing in a Disney Recording studio with a Disney conductor teaching them a Disney song from a movie. Not sure what movie--but it will be recorded for the students---Very Cool

On the topic of desired shirts, I've been on the look out for this particular shirt for quite some time now:

I purchased one of these of the same style for WDW back in December 2010 and would love to get this as a companion piece.

Also, I'm also on the hunt for another one of the WDW version, since I've wearing mine out. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

That sounds like a GREAT trip! Hope you will post pictures of the event here on this thread for us all to enjoy! :clap :clap :clap

I'm going in April too... April 2013. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

On a sad note, my Disney Store (which is about a mile away from my house) closed this week. Now I'll have to drive 30 miles away to get my Disney fix! :gah: :gah: :gah:

Went to Disneyland yesterday briefly and no more of that Joy Division Mickey shirt. womp womp. And Protozaius that Disneyland 55 shirt is actually really cool! It's so rare that they get anything good that I stopped looking. Now I guess I'll need to make more routine passes.

I do love that they have Duck Tales shirts at World of Disney now and I think a Rescue Rangers one.

Had a feeling that's what happened with the shirt.

My buddy is going to be PISSED about the Speeder. I was going to have one shipped to him and I've been building it up since I got mine for Christmas how it's a ridiculous bargain. :lol

It WAS indeed a ridiculous bargain. I think they should have gone up $5 or $10... not $15.

Here's some pics from yesterday.
