For the record, I really enjoy their Spawn, Comic Spidey, Blade and Comic Wolvie. I have a handful of Medi figres out of the 50 or so 1/6 figures that I have. Theyre not that bad when you dont take them seriously but once there is an upgrade available from SS or HT, I upgrade too. So what does that say, lol....

It's funny how different things look to a relative noob. I'm not a big collector, but I really like the way Medicom do things. Their figures have a weighting to them that lets you pose them really naturally, and the overall feel is one of high quality.

I've only got The RotJ Vader, Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, and Alien, but I haven't been that struck by the alternatives from other companies. I understand that scale is an issue for many, but it's irrelevant to me as I don't exclusively collect figures in a certain scale.

I'm intrigued to try a Sideshow figure or two, but every one I've seen is lacking that certain quality element. They seem more like glorified Hasbro toys, and I'd rather pay twice as much for something that is higher quality. The Stormtroopers look ok, but I've never seen them posed in the natural way that the Medicom can be.

Am I wrong?

"Medicom is more Tonner now than Sideshow/Hot Toys..."

weighting? Almost all Medicom figures look like scrawny teenagers.

Out of my price range sadly, but I think it still rocks

I mean that the weight of the actual body used means that the limbs hang really naturally. All the shots I've seen of Sideshow figures look more like action figures, they look kind of awkward. I'm not criticising the accuracy of the sculpts per se (although what is up with that Vader helmet?), just the way they pose.

I display a few of my favorite Medi figures SW (Darth Maul, ROTS Vader, Anakin) and Comic (Spidey (both) and Wolverine). The rest are boxed up. Their style doesn't fit with the evolution of my collection. I prefer HT's realistic style to Medicom's creative style.

Medicom still does some amazing anime figures! I think Hot Toys has shown they could do them too if they wanted, but until then, Medicom is about the only choice for quality anime figures.

As for prices... the "average" Medicom figure has only gone up 1000 to 2000 Yen in the last 2 or 3 years. That is about $10 to $20 at current exchange rates. The problem is the low dollar exchange rate for the last couple of years. Before the economy went south, the typical Medicom figure was around 14,800 Yen, which exchanged for about $122 just 3 years ago... today, that same 14,800 Yen figure costs $161... add on that small 1000 to 2000 Yen increase in price and a figure that cost us just $100 to $125 three years ago, is now costing $175 to $200. So you can't really blame Medicom for the higher prices; they haven't increased their price by that much on the typical figure. It is mostly due to the poor preforming dollar.

The Anime figures from Medicom are really top-notch. The willingness to use non-standard body parts to get the right look is something that is very impressive.

Their movie figures unfortunately just aren't to collectors tastes, and with the prices being a bit higher it seems more collectors gravitate towards HT or Sideshow.

I completely agree! There are very few "non-anime" Medicom figures that have caused me to want to get them... they sometimes hit one out of the park, but most of the time, they seem to be grounders to second base... :lol

I own three Medicom figures, ROTJ Luke, ROTS Darth Vader and ROTJ-ish looking Stormtrooper. I doubt i will buy any more of their figures, unless their ROTS Anakin i can find for a mere $90 and they release a ROTS Obi-wan to go along side him.

Does no-one rate their TIE Fighter Pilot, or Emperor's Royal Guard? They're next on my "To buy" list.

I remember back in the day when you could buy Rocky and Rambo HT's figures for $85-$99 these Medicom pieces sold for around $150-$170. I was never a Medicom fan for that reason. I never saw the value in their product and don't collect anime stuff.

I think some of the cartoony RAH figures look fine, particularly the Metal Gear ones. Unfortunately, in my little experience with them, they always feel cheap and fragile, and apparently for good reason. One fall from the shelf, and that's it for many of them. Comic Spidey literally crumbled in my hands. What kind of QC lets that one slip through? That, in concert with their ridiculous prices and inability to do "realistic" humans really turns me off to them. I would still like to get their Han Solo one of these days, though.

Yea, i paid $100 for my Rambo III and $110 for M65 Jacket Rambo from Toys2 awhile ago, quite awhile before those figures came though..i bought Medicom Luke for i think $120 mint same with the Stormtrooper, Vader was $185-90 or something near that.I will only pick up select future releases of Medicom stuff if the price is around a hundred dollars clearance sale or something.
