Terminator 3 is a Terminator 2 spoof.

My thoughts too. It was a parody rather than a serious installment. Just look at the scene with Silberman - he was a serious character in the first two films and he was brought back for this film purely to get a chuckle from the audience. There was no logical story or character driven reason for him to be there at all. Just for a laugh. The same could probably be said for Arnie's T-850.

T1 had maybe one funny moment at most but was for the most part a serious sci-fi action/drama film. T2 upped the humour a little bit but it arose naturally from the situation of having a child teaching an emotionless machine how to behave more human. In T3 there was just too much humour for the sake of having humour. It was typical hollywood - action 'check', nubile female 'check', crowdpleasing jokes 'check' - 'lets put the film out..respect for the other installments? Shut up!..a believable continuation? - what are you talking about? - we got robots and explosions theres your continuation'.

Crap film.

The movie is ok, but if you compare it to number 1 and 2 the movie is not any good. The best thing about T3 is that we get to see more endoskeletons, they rock, but besides that there's not much to be thrilled about in my opinion.

It was a pretty entertaining movie, but I hate it out of principal. Not just because it wasn't a true Terminator movie, but because the ending ^^^^ed with the brilliant ending from T2, that we can decide our OWN future. "Sorry, we lied, you're ^^^^ed anyways" completely messes with that...

My biggest gripe would have to be Nick Stahl playing John Connor. There was just not enough to relate his acting of the character, to that of the younger Connor as played by Furlong. When I think back to how Connor was as a kid in T2, he was smart mouthed, mischievious and had attitude. None of those traits came through with Stahl. This was a big part of what built the relationship between Arnie and J Connor in T2, that would have carried over really well if it was present in T3.

There wasn't any physical resemblance between Stahl and Furlong as Connor either. They could have at least given Stahl a similar hair style that the teen Connor had. I really would have liked to have seen Furlong reprise the character, and think his reputed personal problems at the time, could have added an extra dimension to the adulthood of John Connor as well.

Having said that, the effects in T3 were the best of all the films. Seeing the BD Arnie at the end as he gets out of the choppa was great. As well as the endo's in the future scene at the beginning.

I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I enjoyed the fact that this third installment FINALLY got us to the part where the machines (ie: computers) take over. I'd had hopes for that to be the case by the end of the 2nd installment (I can see why it didn't go that route, but I personally wanted judgement day to happen). Terminator Salvation looks to finally be the story I wanted told since I'd seen the first film (now, if I can get past Bale's annoying 'low' voice and if the story is good I'll be a happy camper).

In that case you're going to really hate Bale! While I don't like T3 at all myself I don't see how you could take Furlongs child traits and have any adult actor carry them over. Put it this way I'll be surprised if we hear bale saying things like 'Lets book!' or 'Gimme five!' - not to take anything away from Furlong who gave a competent child performance - but beyond getting an actor who resembles an older Furlong...or indeed getting furlong himself - I doubt you would see much of T2 John connor in an adult john connor.

Seems alot of people are of the opinion that

"T3 never happened, i'm waiting for Terminator Salvation".....erm one issue...

What if...Salvation sucks?

Will you refuse to acknowledge its existance as well?
I will, just as I refuse to acknowledge the existence of Alien3, Alien Resurrection, or the AVP abominations, because they all sucked pretty hard in my opinion. I love T1 and T2, and thought T3 was an OK action movie, but hardly worthy of being lumped in with the other 2. I don't consider it part of the "real story" to me, anymore than the Terminator TV show or comic books. Right now, I consider the "real story" to have started with Terminator and to have ended after T2.
