Where are the high-end Ghostbusters figures?

It sucks that the only 1/6 scale or 12" figures we've gotten from this classic film are from Matty. Such a let down. I have a set from GB1 and GB2, but would love a more detailed set that won't cost me a ton of cash.

Hot Toys could make a mint out of these just by making Venkman alone - lots of people would want that but a hardcore would buy more than one, or buy the gear parted out, so they could custom build all four.

Looks like Phil Tippett's company is releasing a prop replica of one of those dog things that chases Rick Moranis.

I think the mattel figure parts can be used and are quite good, don't judge the paint job its my own ok.

Looks like the 30th anniversary is finally getting the coverage it deserves, with a theatrical rerelease in August and a bells and whistles blu-ray release, plus an official site:

I know someone said this would have been the year to release high end figures, and it hasn't happened, but a company could still announce them this year and cash in on the heightened profile. C'mon HT (or BCS) do your thing! Even an unlicensed Venkman ('Ghost Hunter Peter') would rock.

It is a nice thought but I have a feeling it won't happen. For the masses, the Matty figures were high end and sales would have to be astronomical for a company like Hot Toys to take on. I think the only hope is like you said for a "Ghost Hunter" to come out.

I'll take a set of all four GhostHunters!

Amen!

Tell you what I'd like - if a company can't make all the gear, then I'd take at least a 'GhostHunter Peter' figure with the flight suit and that orange jacket he wore when he met Dana at the fountains, then mash it up with a Mattel.

I read that they will announce a set date at SDCC. I believe it is sometime this fall. These are a pass for me. I have every other Matty release for GB, but I have a hard time wanting to give them any more money because of the way they handled this license recently. 30th anniversary and all we get are a rehash of old figures.

I think that's a very valid POV, Rambler although its good for someone like me who's playing catch up and doesn't want to spend £180 on a GB1 Zeddemore! I did wonder if the removable packs thing means they might try again to get the Ecto 1 out, with a gurney in the back for the packs.

More likely it means they had to release some product to maintain their claim to the license and these 4 figures were what was ready to go.

Mattel has always wanted the license to the third film and if releasing figures once a year is enough to prevent other companies from snatching up the rights then you can probably count on an SDCC exclusive at least for the next few years until a third movie is either officially announced or definitively abandoned.

Never thought of that! Still, if it keeps figures coming I'm happy. It's high time they did their own Terror Dogs.
