I think that is the key. Sideshow doesn't have poor quality control. They just hate us ****ing Kurgans.

i guess that makes me a honorary kurgan. ive never seen the movie. anyone wanna send acopy my way . kurgan or not, ill roll wit ya

I had to unfortunately vote for Sideshow.

Sideshow has by far the greatest Customer Service on the planet... :clap :clap

...but their QC is very bad. :(

I don't think it's intensional at all but it seems IMO that there is a problem overseas. Most of the problems always seem to be at the production level.

I voted for Sideshow. Both of my Marvel LB Doom and Ironman have sratches. I couldn't send them back on time due to school and work so I had to keep them instead due to the 30 day limit :monkey2 Also, I just noticed yesterday that my Capt. America PF has a scratch on the top corner of the shield :monkey2 But I am not going to send it back for replacement.

I think this poll is fine. If this was a 12" figure poll I'd maybe put medicom. I have had experience with medicom breakages(tho all self fixable) for the price the joints(the main problem) should be sturdier.

Paint aps isnt the problem cos they barely have any on:eek:. The tailoring and materials are pretty spot on. The most important thing is the proto to production pics. They should consistantly be almost identical IMO.

We know that GG has used the same factory as SSC for past items, and since everything that is being considered for QC comes from the factory level, I still say the poll isn't fair due to the number of items produced by each company. There is also the point of the intricacy of the items in some cases.

They knew they were going to have problems with Grevious so a lot of effort was spent on designing that packaging. I don't recall breakage being a huge issue with him though. With Moore Bond they didn't expect to have problems, but the package design caused breakage in the majority of items shipped. But if they were just releasing small busts then they wouldn't have as much of a problem.

That's a good point Dave, especially if the majority of QC complaints are breakage. Whenever I think of QC problems I think of things where the paint jobs are bad like Anakin. I would expect sideshow is not very happy when it comes to breakage issues either since I expect that really hurts their bottom line. I have no doubt sideshow dislikes it when a bad paint job comes out too, but I don't think it packs such a fiscal punch as breakage since a broken item can't be sent to someone else and requires more production without additional funds.

Intricacy of design is a VERY big part of the issue here, and Dave is certainly correct in that the standard mini bust isn't going to have very many issues.

Personally, I have owned a good number of GG items, some MR but no Hard Hero or Bowen. I have yet to be as impressed with anything as I am/was with MR's packaging and design, they are virtually flawless - I know some have voted MR, but can anyone give me an example? :wave

GG packages their items very similar to SS, but without any real issues; I didn't hear of any real problems with their SW statues or Potter dragon.

I overwhelmingly have a Sideshow collection, but I have had the following breakages/factory blems/paint issues:

1) Hulk Spidey dio - cracked leg on Hulk

2) Frodo PF - legs wouldn't fit correctly, returned for refund

3) Vader/Obi Wan PF bases - hairline scratches

4) Boromir Weta - factored repaired sword hilt

5) Elessar Weta - factory repaired cape

6) Sauron Weta - factory repaired leg spines and bent spikes

7) Galadhrim Archer - factory repaired arm spine

8) Gandalf on Shadowfax - broken mane, factory attempt to hide damage

9) Gandalf Weta - his pointing finger was broken off and actually stuffed into a hole in the foam

And on, and on ....

Fortunately because of SS's excellent customer service all of these issues were corrected.

I put Sideshow, but I have to say I'm not sure it's a fair poll either. I have bought more pieces from Sideshow for one. Having said that I have bought tons of stuff from many of the listed companies and have had some problem with most all of them at some point. The other poll that should go with this is who has the best customer service. Sideshow has always gone BEYOND my expectations anytime there has been a problem. :monkey1

i think qc starts at the factory and ends when you receive your package. the factory should be turning out an acceptable product, should mass ship it properly from overseas to the company for distribution, and then it should be packaged properly to be delivered by a reliable shipping company. too many hands makes it next to impossible to get something perfect. but if everyone did their part, you wouldn't have the issues you have. i haven't dealt with all the companies directly so i didn't vote.

I think Sideshow's Quality Control motto is: send it out as-is and if someone complains THEN we'll fix it.

I have worked in Quality Control for 12 years and there is no way I'd pass a good percentage of the stuff I've purchased. I know this makes me a bit more critical than most but believe me, I've had to learn to live with a lot of quality issues, no matter how nitpicky they are or upgraded or fixed others myself or downright sold something that I felt was unacceptable.

I also have an extensive MR prop collection and have never had an issue with their Quality Control. When I heard about the Stormtrooper and Vader Studio Scale helmets quality control issues I considered myself lucky that I received both helmets flawlessly. So, even though I can say that MR has had their fair share of QC problems, I fortunately never had to deal with them.

And I don't collect anything Gentle Giant does but I have heard/read all of the horror stories and when I saw that hideous Clone Wars Obi-Wan statue and how god-awful it was factory painted I can honestly say that it was the first time that it made even the worst of Sideshow's factory paint jobs on a figure look good.
