YOU HAVEN'T VOTED??!?

FOR SHAME!!

Do your civic duty and VOTE!

I won't vote because it really isn't a fair poll. I've never bought a Bowen, Hard Hero, or CS Moore piece. I've only got a few MR pieces and they are all the scaled replicas, so not a lot of diversity of product and no real problems to speak of. Same for GG, almost entirely one or two types of products, so not enough diversity here either and only a couple of issues. That leaves Sideshow, which I have owned across virtually every product type, and hundreds of pieces. How can I honestly vote when I don't even own a product from 50% of the companies listed? I'm betting that most of the people voting don't own or order an equal amount from each company to honestly determine who has the worst QC! I'm sorry El, but the poll is virtually worthless the way it is setup, in my opinion.

Come on, it's more like Darklord Dave and Lonnie won't vote against Sideshow because of their affiliation with them.

I have worked in Quality Control for 12 years and there is no way I'd pass a good percentage of the stuff I've purchased...

Do you do QC of hand made, hand painted products? There is a huge difference between mass produced machined goods and hand made products and what would be acceptable in the QC phase.

Not at all... read my post, it isn't a fair poll so why vote? And what affiliation do I have with Sideshow besides being a customer just like you?

I don't think you should be allowed to vote in this poll unless you have over 200 SSC items. That's the only way that it would show anything.

I have no idea how many items I have, but I'm sure it's well over 300, and I've had 2 problems. That's .0067%.

How is it not fair? Because if you haven't bought an arbitrary quantity, as Darklord Dave says of something like 200 products from them you cannot objectively quantify their Quality Control issues? :rotfl

What I find unfair is that both Lonnie and Dave, both forum mods for a site that supports and promotes Sideshow, are quick to dismiss any criticisms of the quality of their products in both of the currently running polls.

Where have I dismissed any criticisms of Sideshow quality in this thread? I have only commented that the poll isn't really fair and that I won't vote; I've had plenty of items with issues that need replacement, but the overall percentage is probably still lower than some other companies I collect.

Dude the first poll has no control number. A person who bought 2 pieces and gets 1 bad one votes 50% which carries the same weight as the guy who owns 200 pieces and has had 4 bad ones. You might as well be measuring farts in the wind. This poll takes for granted that everyone owns as many pieces from each of the companies represented in the poll which I doubt is the case. The mods are pretty objective IMHO....Josh is the one you have to watch out for:D!!!

Sorry Lonnie, I guess I didn't make myself clear, I forgot to add the monkey at the end of my post. :monkey3

:D

Exactly!!! You never know what Josh is up to!

I abstained from voting in either poll. I collect 1/6 scale items, apart from about 8 Sideshow PF's. I have only ever had a problem with a pair of pants, and Sideshow sent me out another pair. Problems??? One, and it was fixed, so no problems. I don't have but a handful of Hot Toys and Medicom, and other 12 inch items, and haven't had any problems with them either, apart from Medicom, and those companies weren't mentioned. The problems I've had with Medicom are magnified, considering the price I have had to pay for them.

As far as quality control goes, at least Sideshow have a back up. The best customer service to rectify consumer complaints. I guess it comes down to the consumer and how picky they happen to be. Some people are totally anal. For me, I look past the small defects, and am happy to enjoy my purchases for what they are.

now if you're talking customer in mind. a buddy ordered 4 different sdcc items from sideshow. he was steamed because he received 4 e-mails the other day of 4 separate shipments going out. they didn't combine shipping and he had to pay FOUR shipping charges. they really need to work on that to try and save the poor guy some shipping bucks. as great a product sideshow may put out, they should follow the lead of many other companies to help reduce shipping for customers. one company i've dealt with charges a flat rate shipping charge with no charge for additional items. that is very appealing to people and it keeps customers coming back. big bad toy store has a pile of loot option that allows the customer to 'hold' shipments until he is ready to ship. i always thought that was a great idea because the customer can decide what to ship and when.

I'm abstaining from the poll only because I have very few GG pieces, a couple MR scaled sabers, and quite a few Sideshow items.

But if I had to choose, I would have to say that Sideshow's QC is poorest among my high-end experiences. These are the problems I've had (although I've either fixed them myself or just lived with them):

Anakin Skywalker 1/6: lip paint, loose arm

Obi-Wan Kenobi 1/6: torn seam on tunic straight out of box

Mace Windu 1/6: ROTS hilt doesn't attach firmly to belt clip...slightest breeze knocks it off the figure

Robert Englund "Springwood Slasher" 1/6: hand color sorely mismatched with face's skin tone

Those are just my personal experiences with Sideshow. Every single MR scaled saber I've bought (which was nearly a dozen at my peak) arrived in excellent condition, and I can't complain about any of the GG pieces I've received.

Still, when Sideshow hits the mark, they hit it straight out of the park (Darth Maul, Salacious Crumb pack, Jabba, Leia Boushh)

umm... call me crazy but i've never had a problem with anything i''ve received from sideshow. sure, the anakin problems, mace windu problems are there, but what do you expect?? they are $60 figures. if this happened with the medicom jango figure i would crucify the people who sold it to me for $150+ i also have many PF items in my collection as well without any problems with those either. i was extremely nervous with the captain america PF when i realized how fragile his wings are on his head.

I have to refrain from voting in this poll as well. I only collect two of the companies in question so it wouldn't be fair to limit it to either of them for that sake. I've only ever had to return one item to SS and that was a shipping issue, not QC.

GG's had their huge blunders, granted so has SS. But if I wasn't happy with either of them, I wouldn't be giving them all my money

Well I would expect something that doesn't fall apart. Like you said, these are $60 figures...not $7 Hasbro figures.

I expect them to have at least as good a paint jobs as my $45 figures from Sideshow.

anybody know if there are different factories used for different SS products OR different levels of painters used on different products?

just wondering cause sometimes the 1:6 paint apps seem like they had to have come from another factory than that of the beautiful 1:1 busts.
.. and I know the lrger scale allows for more detail, but sometimes it seems as if there is more effort put into 1 eyeball on a 1:1 bust than on the entire head of some 1:6 figures.
