Super Freak
I'm not into politics, am usually into polls, but a poll about politics
I'd rather A) not have to go through and delete all the nonsense personal attacks and/or B) not have to lock these political threads-- but if I had to choose between the two, it'll be a Stallone lock-down so please keep it civil guys. We're all "brothers & sisters" on here so state your opinion and thoughts but respect other's and their right to do so as well. Don't agree with everyone but please keep it civil.
Thanks.
P.S. Shai, be nice or we'll start a Quebec Seperatist thread. And I was on one of those buses that trecked into Montreal back in '95 and stood listening to Jean as that massive flag was passed overhead-- but more caca and I'll text Steven Harper to cut you out of the Great White North.

That was completely uncalled for, and I suppose I'm not surprised that the coward logged out.
The only controversial thing he said there is that Jesus was black.
I believe he said it. I just disagree with the right wing smear machine. Let's take a look.
“God damn America … for killing innocent people."
We do kill innocent people. Wright is right to be upset. I think context is important here. Wright is inverting a popular refrain to make us think about our government's actions (and I shouldn't have to remind everyone that our government is not our country). He's saying "on this score we do not deserve to pat ourselves on the back with another mindless refrain of 'God bless America.'" I don't deny it's heated rhetoric but Wright has been quite clear (not that the right wing propaganda machine will pay attention) that he was not condemning the American people full stop.
“God damn America for threatening citizens as less than humans."
We do this, unfortunately.
“God damn America as long as she tries to act like she is God and supreme.”
I can see how this line sets people off, but I also see what he's getting at. The US basically does whatever it wants and routinely ignores international law and accords - including the Geneva Convention.
“We bombed Hiroshima. We bombed Nagasaki. And we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon and we never batted an eye. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because of stuff we have done overseas is now brought back into our own backyard. America is chickens coming home to roost.”
This is all true.
“The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied.”
I believe this is false, but it's a popular conspiracy theory. I don't think this really supports the idea he's a racist who hates America.
“Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary would never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a ******. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person.”
All these things are true.
“Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain’t! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty.”
I don't know where this is coming from. To be honest it sounds like Wright lost it around the time Obama's campaign really began gaining steam. He probably became self-important, as a lot of these figures do, and began letting his more fringe beliefs come to the fore. Obama has said he's never heard Wright talk like this before, and there's no credible reason to disbelieve that.
Basically I think Wright holds some fringe beliefs that are common in the black community (Jesus was black, the CIA is responsible for AIDS and crack) but there's nothing here demonstrating he's a racist who hates America. I'd stick him in a loony box with Palin's pastor and some of McCain's extremist friends and ignore the lot of them.
..Shame on you.
That would be awesome !!!
And hopefully someday you will be able to forgive the U.S. Government for chosing to bomb those two cities instead of allowing 200,000-300,000 US and Allied soldiers from dying as a result of trying to invade Japan using conventional land, sea, and air forces.
Unfortunately, the fact you would even attempt to justify anything this clown says reveals as much about your character as it does the person who said it in the first place.
I'm going to take the old-fashioned approach here and actually take him at his word.
The Maritimes get Les Habitants though.
NEVER !!!!!!
LOLL..NO WONDER AMERICANS FIGHT WITH EVERY OTHER NATION IN THE WORLD, YOU PEOPLE FIGHT BETWEEN YOURSELVES LIKE IDIOTS .....
Classic, of course!
bcm77 has got me Greel/Sin and the black Voc robot. Hopefully soon he will find me a Tom Baker and the silver robot. Then my series will be complete (besides the Five I have on order from BBTS).
I can't wait to see pics of 3,7, and 8. (especially 8 in light of recent developments).
I logged out because it was bed time.
If 8 was based off the recent developments he would be in for the series 5 line not the classics.
"We bombed Hiroshima. We bombed Nagasaki.' True, and true. And hopefully someday you will be able to forgive the U.S. Government for chosing to bomb those two cities instead of allowing 200,000-300,000 US and Allied soldiers from dying as a result of trying to invade Japan using conventional land, sea, and air forces.
You make a lot of assumptions.
