Which trilogy do you prefer?

So you're telling me the visual style, plot and quality of KOTCS meshes perfectly with the near 20 year old "original" trilogy which had their own unique tone and styles and were made by the same crew in a period of eight years?

And by that logic, will LOTR cease to be a trilogy once The Hobbit films come out?

Yes. Its close enough. Same director, and all that.

Star Wars V2, has a new director (Yes, GL only did one OT...so) and very few returning actors.

And The Hobbit will (hopefully) vastly different then LOTR.

SW Trilogy mainly cause I saw it before LoTR. But honestly it's only by a very small margin, they're both really, really close to being even. Two of the best movie trilogies/franchises in my opinion.

Always have been a bigger LOTR fan always will be. There are so many things within the story both book and movie that I think are items people can take with them if they so choose. The acting, writing, and looks are better than the OT but both are magical for what they are.

on topic, Lord of the Rings easily.
In terms of advancing special effects Star Wars is an amazing milestone, but George Lucas can't direct actors or write dialogue to save his life. The LotR characters were so much more believable in terms of their characterization.

Star Wars and only becasue they can keep making the movies. LoTR was really good but they can't really go any further but they can make more SW movies.... hopefully better than the last 3.

Ever heard of the Sillmarillion? There's a whole Bible worth of stories in there and with better plots and writing then 99.9% of everything written based on SW.

Shocked... Just utterly shocked that people think the SW universe is bigger than Tolkien's universe.

LOTR. SW (OT) was fun and new but in every way, LOTR (books or movies) are far superior.
