Look guys.. This piece, and any piece out of this line, is obviously out of most of our leagues. I wouldn't fuss too much about it though, it's not like its going to be the only Wolf piece to come out in the months and years to come.

Really, stop kicking yourself as if you've just lost the only chance at the character. They're is sure to be a Legnedary Bust, a smaller maquette and who knows what other formats. But the legendary format is for a different kind of collector, one with a legendary bank account! :lol

Yeah. We might see the wolf as a LSB too. Not sure about the other formats though.
Not defending SS by any means but one need not have a 'Legendary' bank account to get this. It's an open edition so it'll be around for a while and as tnaig said if you save some $$ every month, you can easily go for it. It is overpriced, yes, but I'm still managing it with monthly earnings being no more than $300! :gah: :thud:
So, IMO it's all a matter of how badly you want a piece rather than being a part of niche collectors!

maybe SS new strategy is to sell fewer pieces but with higher margins.

that way QC can improve while maintaining profits. =D

I hope this is the case. They better ramp up the QC checks regarding this piece.

Cheers,
Neo.

Can't wait to get this one! I figured it would be $2k as soon as I saw it . So I'm not disappointed. Of course I'll explore cheaper options but, it will be mine. Oh yes...It WILL be mine.

For things like this, I think the light up features are kinda stupid. They justify a steeper price by adding them, and it's not something you can leave displayed at all times. So when friends are over you can go "check this out" and click it on, then they go "ewwww, wooowwww" and then you "ok, I have to turn it off now". I'd much rather have the whip be poseable, and have the spear be able to extend/retract. That adds much more depth to the possible displays for it.

So I'd rather they take the time and cost invested to add a light up feature, and put that towards another display feature like moveable/removeable shoulder cannons.

Here's a decent idea. For future big/costly pieces, do a 3D graphic reveal and have a poll of different ideas that people would want to see on it. We're the ones spending our money on it, so why not ask what features we'd like to see on it?

Looking at the pic with the apple it looks like it could be 1:3 the head is pretty large next to the apple. The p1 maquette head is not that big

I don't think anything's gonna justify the price tag besides the scale. But it would be nice if they included that light-up feature as well. No offense to your views but I primarily collect for myself and not to impress friends with them. So it doesn't matter if I can't leave that light-up feature to 'on' all the time. And yeah, I would love those features that you've mentioned as well. Would make for some awesome alternate displays!

That's the same thing lingering in my mind since a long time. This will also help boost the manufacturer-customer interactivity which lately seems to be declining. They won't have anything to lose either due to the model being virtual. I think we oughta take this up with them.

I've always thought they should post polls on their site or here when brainstorming /designing a piece. But thats sideshow. They think that they know what's best. Sometimes it works but I think they will have less falures if they included us in the process.

Not sure what you mean exactly. They are the same height according to SS. But Wolverine is 1:2 and despite what SS says I think Wolf is 1:4...But it doesn't matter. The size difference between 1:2 and 1:3 is 25%. This 25% size difference is the same for 1:3 and 1:4, 1:4 and 1:5, 1:5 and 1:6 etc.

If you notice, the whip adds a good amount of inches over the predator head. Im pretty sure they are adding that to the total height of 31" wolverine is bigger.

So is that like when architects add a 50 foot antenna to the top of a building to give it the extra height to set a new record?

1:2 Wolverine is 31" tall (actual height: 5 foot 2 inches)

"1:3" scale Predator is 31" tall (actual height: 7 foot 6 inches)

i'm no mathematician...but

So if SSC actually listened to the gripes in here and dropped the price down to $1500, would everyone then complain that since the price is lower that now the quality won't be as good? :dunno

Unfortunately, they forgot what makes people pay that much is it's limited availability. By making this open edition without a number on the base, it opens up the opportunity for more fakes to be made and the price not going up for the years it's available for RRP from the Sideshow website. Plus customers won't be in any hurry to get this since it is available for a long time and the line won't progress.

If you are a greedy company and want a part of the secondary market pie, then make it limited and keep a few statues for yourself to sell.

The Ironman 1:2 could be purchased for a much lower price now to collectors can just wait for prices to plummet since it won't go out of stock. They should sell these Legendary Priced Figures at Walmart and call him the Walmart Wolf.

i dont even think it's greed on sideshow's part, that company is just mentally retarded when it comes to the LSF line. If they want to make sure this line is available for a long time, then create an ex for ES: 200 then set the reg ES to 1000 or something, how many will honestly buy a $2000 statue? not many. This will keep the statue in limited edition category & the fans happy while make sure it's available for a long time, and the hardcore fans will be fine because of the ex. It's a win win for everyone.

Instead they release all LSF with no edition size no ex, that's like a black hole for many of us, i wouldnt touch this with a ten feet pole. The rarity is a major factor of collecting those especially at the top tier.

ps before you go off on collect what you like es doesnt matter, they DO. It might not matter to YOU, but clearly it matters to many.
