Wolverine Origins (Spoilers/Discussion)

I thought it was a good movie. It was an origin flick and it set out to do it and did it well IMO.

It was pretty terrible as an origin movie, actually. It assumes you've seen the previous three X-Men films and does nothing to establish mutation nor even set up Wolverine's healing factor or animal senses. We're just expected to know all this. You can't actually show this as the first Wolverine story, because it would just be a wall of noise to the uninitiated.

The biggest problem for me is that the characters are all empty ciphers rather than human beings. The original movies worked because Logan, Rogue, Magneto and Nightcrawler were written and played like fully fledged characters from a proper drama. This was even more important in a movie anchored by a single character, but instead we get cartoons. But to be fair, maybe I would have loved it in junior high.

what was the quality of the download? what was the sound quality? i remember some people watching Transformers off of a bittorent file that was low quality and very low sound quality. And then saying how bad it was... well, yeah, it would be terrible then.

DVD quality for the most part. It's a proper work print. But as per Dave you probably should take that line of inquiry to another forum.

i don't know where you live, but in the U.S. it is not against any law to "download a movie".
and siding with FOX/MPAA isn't exactly taking the moral high ground.

Looking forward to this. It's not Citizen Kane or Schindler's List. It's just supposed to be ludicrous action-packed fun, and in the trailers it certainly doesn't pretend to be anything but that. I'll see it and I'm sure I'll find it fun.

nah. all it takes for an R rating is a nipple. blood/gore is still mostly PG-13.
i will say this movie is more violent than any of the X-Men movies. especially the ending.
and if you've seen the trailers, you've already seen all of the best parts.

i like Jackman as Wolverine. the one in the comics is based on a young Clint Eastwood and Hugh looks and talks enough like him.
it's not his fault this movie had lousy writing/directing.

Actually, he plays a semi big part in it. He's the final villain. And he sucks. So bad. The movie itself, is decent. But the acting is awful, and (I only watched the last 50 minutes). I dunno...it was odd...i'll check it out in theaters...but I wont pay for it. (Fox movie);

Did I mention how much DP sucks? Holy christ.

He's different from the Wolverine in the comics, to be sure, but he definitely put his stamp on the movie incarnation of the character. Nothing wrong with that. Was already pleased with him in X-Men, but X2 proved to me that Jackman is a stellar Wolverine.

Was OK...I fell A bit let down,Cause The trailer gave the idea that it was a very dark movie,more adult oriented. But after seeing it, it felt like it was X-Men 4....I wont see it in theatre...Didnt like the twist with his girlfriend at the end.
