Wonder Woman is an Amazon, plain and simple. It's part of her history.

She was also from the very first appearance (and for 40+ years after) endowed with Goddess-like qualities- chief among these being
- with the strength of Hercules
- with the swiftness of mercury
And, last but not least- with the beauty of Aphrodite.

I have a lot of respect for Alex Ross, but reading his annotation, I have to wonder if that is when the whole ridiculous backlash against WW being a "beauty queen" started. I don't have as much of a problem with the warrior-schtick as some other fans do. I realize that there is a more natural "in" for storytelling possiblitites with this character if you go the sword and sandal route. But at the same time, I regret seeing it veer so much in that direction.

Like buzzybean, I'm a big fan of the character (from Marston on up) and I will still be waiting for a more ideal WW statue.
At the very least, I would have been on board for this one if I felt the portrait actually reflected an Aphrodite-like beauty. For me it's just a generic (and somewhat plain looking) warrior woman in a quasi- WW style costume.

But to not make this totally negative- I do think the body on it is remarkably well sculpted..with the possible exception of the bust.

Agreed but to Sum it up, Mose, IMO is Wonderwoman is Brunette, Slim, Athletic, Voluptuous, Demure, and can be Aggressive. my kind of Super-heroine

With respect to Mose Harper and buzzybean, this really is the iconic Wonder Woman since the Perez reboot. Perez was found of drawing her in battle armor, wielding her gigantic battleaxe. He rebooted her as a more traditional Amazon warrior, and that depiction has been consistent now since 1987. In fact, one of the most iconic images of Wonder Woman, in the last 27 years, was the Bolland cover upon which several statues and prints have been based. Please note the spears, helmet on the ground, one foot raised, etc. And I do think this face is really beautiful. She's just not blank looking, like a Barbie doll.

Brian Bolland's cover to Wonder Woman #72 is one of my all time favorites and it is iconic IMO.

Exactly man! So far the only EX I've wanted but couldn't get was for Harley since I use paypal to buy my collectibles So that's a shame. If only SSC accepted Paypal.

I'm not a huge Wonder Woman fan, but if the paint turns out to be close to as good as the prototype, this could turn out to be the best female premium format Sideshow has ever done.

I'm so surprised by the hate on her face, I think she is the epitome of beauty and power. I think she is gorgeous and exactly how I would envision a real life wonder woman. I don't think I can pass this up, damn it. I was only supposed to get a hulk maquette and i already have superman and a predator too now. I didn't get batman because even though I'm a huge comic fan i never really got on with batman as a kid. I liked the adam west batman but because it was funny, not because he was a badass. I always thought it was weird to lump batman in with supes and ww. This statue is so epic I am going to get it just for the artistic appreciation of it, and how it will go with supes.

You can use Paypal on Sideshow's site, at least you can now even though their FAQ says otherwise.
