NOPE! That is what an emergency savings is for. Collectibles is NOT an emergency savings. If you do not have an emergency savings you should NOT be buying any of this stuff.

Not to keep this conversation going but you should probably have an emergency savings that is just pure cash and isn't in the stock market in fan form.

so your saying you can't comprehend why someone would want their purchases to retain their value in the future? I just recently sold off about half my collection to put a sizable down payment on a house. I didn't buy the statues with the intention of selling them later, but also wasn't stupid enough to blindly throw money at something I thought would be worthless a year later either. I would recommend jumping down from that high horse, but carefully so as not to injure yourself and need to dip into your emergency fund :wink1:

:goodpost: THIS!!!! 1000X THIS. If you're in this for "future investement" you need to rethink a few things. There are much better ways for you to be investing than buying Sideshow statues. You make a few bucks off a statue here or there, good on you. But if one of you're main motivations is reselling for profit, you're part of the problem and not the solution. This is a forum for people who enjoy the art and collecting of incredible pieces. Lets not ruin it by constantly bitching about ES so you're future eBay listing isn't able to put your kid through...... errrrrrrrrrr buy that new TV you probably can't afford. :slap

Why do you care what people want to do with their statues. ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! Do you think you're going to be around forever to enjoy them. Get real, buddy!

You want to get a second as 'an investment' then good luck to you.
Just don't be one of the people who come back crying because aftermarket prices were affected by the high ES.

Everybody here gets so offended and take it personal when people talk about exclusive, edition number high or low, investment value or NO INVESTMENT VALUE after some time. Why does it matter?

I get the impression that some collectors have an elitist (maybe there is a better adjective) attitude about ES and don't like the idea of too many others owning the same item. I don't understand this line of thinking at all.

Because its a way for them to feel superior to others and better about themselves...which is sad...

Cant we all just get along? Face it, there are collectors and then there are... collectors. Some collect for the mere enjoyment of owning a statue for whatever
reason(s), then there are those who collect for the same purpose but with investment in mind. To those ES matters as it should, because limited edition and a large is ES is quite an oxymoron and becomes a question of supply and demand.

Im not a "huge" Cap fan but I like him, so to me investment came before mere want for the sake of want. Bats on the other hand Im not concerned about return value.

So both are fine and neither version hurts the other. :1-1:

It can, 90's comics fiasco.

...Comics, DVD's, Video games...car insurance..:lol we blindly toss money at things that end up worthless a year later all the time. We just don't add it all up.

I've held onto comics for over 20 years, I think I can hold to statues for quite a while. If your main concern is money and you're bringing back that 90's collector mentality then you may want to rethink Pop Culture Statues as the right "investment".
