BSG has finished the writing - so of any show, it will probably effect it the least. Eick is a non-writing producer, so he could finish the show even if Moore won't do any producing duties.

I'm starting to come around to the line of thinking that says the AMPTP is forcing the WGA to strike only to intimidate SAG and the Director's Guide and as such they are perfectly willing to let the strike go on until Spring.

That's my thinking as well. The intimidation part. I'm sure they'll settle before the SAG strike though. They just want to shake down the writers so they don't have to up the SAG percentage too much. Actors get alot more than writers, so this one sets the bar.

I was wrong about BSG - apparently they hadn't finished writing and they've shut down production. The article didn't say how many episodes were in the can. But the rumor was Sci-fi was planning on delaying the 2nd half of the season to 2009, so it might not impact it at all.

Just for all to know, The AMPTP knows exactly when they will end this, it is really up to them... expect them to continue to use Force Majeure to clean house... then as the SAG Contract Exp nears, a deal will be made.

My best guess is late Spring...

I have an literary agent friend who is speculating it won't be until June of next year before the studios feel any real pressure to sit down and negotiate.

SAG Contract Expires June 30. I doubt the Studios want to wait until June to get this sorted out... We'll see. They have a plan in place already, they know exactly when they want to move forward.

Btw, any mention of DGA negotiations are incidental to the WGA Strike, no matter what the Trades say, it has little if any bearing on the WGA Contract.

BREAKING NEWS:

"Leaders from the WGA and the AMPTP have mutually agreed to resume formal negotiations on November 26. No other details or press statements will be issued."

That's fantastic news. I hope they can get this thing resolved before it rips everything apart. The studios need to understand that this strike, if it continues, is only going to hurt everyone and anger the audience that pays everyone's salary.

Too bad the audience cannot organize and stop buying DVD's and such. Just to stick it to them. :lol

I haven't purchased a DVD since June and I haven't been to a movie since July. Does that count as a pre-emptive strike?

Seriously though, I hope they get this cleared up and the writers get what they deserve.

just think. politicians are doing crazy things as we speak and no leno or letterman to make jokes about it. *shudders* not a world i wanna live in.

I was at a BSG convention today with Jamie Bamber and Katee Sackhoff in attendence. Both of them were kind of relieved to have some time off but didn't want the strike to last into the new year. But something Katee said that really hit it home. They have 13 BSG season 4 in the can and 9 more to go. But with the strike they've shut up shop, laid off the crew and may strike the sets. It could be the that they'll NEVER go back and do those 9 episodes and they made episode 13 so it kind of could be the series finale. She also talked about Bionic Woman and she predicted that it wouldn't come back at all.

But that's true of all the shows that have shut down - there's no guarantee that they'll EVER be back, even those like The Office that are fairly successful.

Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. SNL has writers? It hasn't been funny in years!
Years?! It hasn't been funny since the original cast was on it back in the 70s!:lol

Today's 'SNL' is pretty much composed of stupid 'teen quality' sex jokes, political propaganda(Then again, what station doesn't? You got ABC, NBC and CBS spewing liberal propaganda like it's going out of style and you have FOX with their daily dose of conservative propaganda) and lots of other unfunny crap.

I'll admit, I do like some TV shows now, but TV was in it's prime back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s(Especially the 90s). I remember back in the 90s, looking forward to Friday and Saturday nights because I knew they would always have something good on. The **** pretty much hit the fans come 2004 or so, so I guess I pretty much have to deal with it unless God bestows us one last shred of semi-decent TV shows.
