Anyone know how this will affect the Oscars this spring? Is the writing for that event already finished, or does that kind of programming not fit in the same category for some reason? Regardless, I'm anxious to see how John Stewart addresses it, I can imagine he'll work in a few clever jabs.

If the Strike is still in effect, Producers will write the Show. Most if not all the show Writers are WGA, including Stewart. Let's hope the Strike is settled before then.

So, its gonna affect my favorite show 24, oh well...that's a bummer. Any news on whether the strike is going to affect my other favorite show "LOST" yet?

Lost will only air 8 Eps...

Here is the latest on what we know, but info is being updated daily.

A friend of mine is EP of Sarah Connor Chronicles and he says only the Pilot is locked, all new shows shot have not been edited, mixed, etc and won't be until the Strike ends.

Well I know this is bad to say, but NBC/Universal seems to be fairly friendly with BBC ... if this strike holds out.. would be interesting to see if maybe NBC takes some of their shows on. Doctor Who on network tv... interesting.

I'd rahter watch it on sci-fi or PBS with no commercials. But that would be interesting to see what the audience reaction would be since it would be exposed to a whole differenct class of tv audience.

That being said, I doubt it would happen.

I sort of doubt it too, but who knows. Sci Fi already has it cut for commercials and such. What I could see is them really just mining the BBC :lol the REAL Coupling, the Original Office, Doctor Who. It'd be great if they aired My Family too. These are shows with semi built in audiences already and if they flop.. well hey at least there are "new" episodes because repeats and news programming and reality stuff will get old REAL fast.

I usually do watch BBC America more then the networks. I say it's about time we start IMPORTING other cultures instead of just exporting our own. While the situation is bad it may have unintended GOOD consequences, but then network heads probably wouldn't dare dream up the notion of challenging their audience with BBC shows.

Half the actors on US network TV are British, Canadian or Australian anyway. They could just import the shows rather than just the actors. OF course they think Americans can't understand any other accent, so that might not work...

Oops, there goes another. TV shows are dropping like flies now...

Fox hits snooze: "24" postponed as part of strike sked
Jack will be back-- but when is now an open question.

Fox has pushed back the planned January debut of "24," citing uncertainty over the strike as a reason. Net wants to make sure viewers see the action unfold without interruption.

"Family Guy" now too.. it's spreading to animation (not covered by WGA). Seth McFarlane has confirmed only one show left to run...

you mean the manitees went on strike?

Of course the Media Corp Machine Accomplices failed to mention that Brit Writers get more than double what we get in Resids, somewhere around 5.6%.

Don't believe the trades, they are warring against us, they know where their bread is buttered, goes with the territory I guess. :D

The Doctor in glorious HD, that would be GREAT.

It's a shame that it is coming down to American/Corporate greed. An extra 4 cents increase to 8 cents isn't all that much. I believe the figure quoted for the overall cost of the original writers demands were 242 million in a billion dollar industry. Interesting that most shows are going for 13 episodes then its the end of the "fall season" and we get mid season replacements but even those will run out soon.
